My earlier reply to the person that suggested legalization had a “not’ left out. Should have been:

“Well, I’m not quite sure I’m ready to go that far, but I will say this:”

But other than that, the remainder is true. As long as there is a DEMAND for illegal drugs, there will be SUPPLIERS of illegal drugs.

If you want to stop the problem, something has to go: Demand or illegality.

I would prefer it to be demand, but some compromise might have to be made.

I was pointing the attitude of many drug users (and those that support drug use) that it does have bigger consequenses than they think.

You shouldn’t use illegal drugs for the same reason you shouldn’t purchase stolen merchandise: it encourages the illegal activity. In one case theft, in the other case drug gangs.
