No Security Pat-Downs for Boehner
NY Slimes ^ | 11/19/2010 | Jeff Zeleny

Posted on 11/19/2010 7:57:42 PM PST by markomalley

Representative John A. Boehner, soon to be the Speaker of the House, has pledged to fly commercial airlines back to his home district in Ohio. But that does not mean that he will be subjected to the hassles of ordinary passengers, including the controversial security pat-downs.

As he left Washington on Friday, Mr. Boehner headed across the Potomac River to Reagan National Airport, which was bustling with afternoon travelers. But there was no waiting in line for Mr. Boehner, who was escorted around the metal detectors and body scanners, and taken directly to the gate.

(snip)

And so on Friday, he did. But not without the perquisites of office, including avoiding those security pat-downs that many travelers are bracing for as holiday travel season approaches.

Michael Steel, a spokesman for the Republican leader, said in a statement that Mr. Boehner was not receiving special treatment. And a law enforcement official said that any member of Congress or administration official with a security detail is allowed to bypass security.

“The appropriate security procedures for all Congressional leaders, including Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid, are determined by the Capitol Police working with the Transportation Security Administration,” Mr. Steel said.

Keep you eyes on the Ball folks - the issue isn’t about what happens or doesn’t happen to Representative John A. Boehner when he flies,
IT IS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU, AVERAGE JOE CITIZEN who is supposed to be protected by the legal dictates of the Federal Constitution, which every federal elected official swears to Uphold and Defend!

Know they enemy, and then kill them (politically speaking, of course)

I think “Don’t Tread On My Privates” is a good T-shirt candidate.

It's so blatant. Health care, Social Security, et al. Almost no one says anything.

PS: Thanks to you I am now listening to seven versions of Sunshine Superman. Life sure is random.

Makes perfect sense.

TSA is part of the federal EXECUTIVE branch.

Due to the 3 equal branches of gov, Executive branch cannot search, force to testify, or in any other way FORCE the other two branches to do ANYTHING

Outrage my sit down part. I’m no threat either but if I choose to fly I become the next Bin Laden. No pass for me........no pass for Boehner.

If he went through the pat downs the media would say he enjoys being felt up by security since it is optional.

I credit him for not taking a military jet like pelosi did.

Well, he COULD do like Pelosi did and charge the American Taxpayer 28,000 dollars - one way - per week to visit home, and to fly her friends and family around.

Or he and the rest of the political class could have to follow the same rules that they impose upon the peons.

If that was the case, there would be a whole lot less BS.

Something fundamentally wrong here.

Sure is wrong. Once again, the ruling class get special treatment. The rest of the peons, tough.

You can be as tired of it as you want, but there are some privileges that make sense. Security for the guy who is second in line to be President makes sense. At least he’s not flying around in a private jet.

It's not the security for him that anyone is objecting to.

What he (we) are objecting to is the *Rules for thee but not for me* mentality.

For years, decades even, people just walked onto airplanes, just like he did and nobody was killed.

Does the TSA and the nanny state really think that what they're subjecting people to is going to stop something like 9/11?

People have gotten past security already, indicating that the TSA is NOT doing their job. And especially when they're exempting muslims.

The people who are catching the terrorists are the passengers who are alert enough to catch and brave enough to attack the the terrorists.

And what about security leaks in baggage handling and maintenance? All this security screening is doing nothing but wasting money and inconveniencing passengers.

Exceptions are bad things to make rules over.

Why waste time on me? I took the oath to protect and defend the constitution. Yank his crank if they are going to yank mine. Yes I am selfish. So what.

Defund the swamp.

Yeah, compared to the peers he's not receiving any different treatment that any other politician is getting.

But he, and they, ARE receiving special treatment, just like all the other special treatment they get that they unwashed masses don't.

I know it’s a hit piece on a Republican, but he’s still acting like a king.

Wait a minute. My post was about the Senator going thru the check point and nothing else. I detest the TSAs new procedures. I do not think they keep anyone safer. I simply think this is a hit piece by the Times designed to make HIM look bad (and it’s working) when in fact it is NOT the issue.
I don’t know what he thinks about any of this. If you do, perhaps you can enlighten me. I suspect his security detail does not want him going thru the line, but I could be wrong.
At any rate, please don’t attribute to me anything I didn’t say or even suggest. I get enough flack for what I DO say.

One thing I can say, after reading thru this thread. The NYTimes knows what they are doing. Their propaganda works, as usual.

These maggots exempt themselves from the laws they pass. They act like kings and queens. It comes naturally. Boehner acts like he’s making a sacrifice, saving tax money and acting like a peon, when he gets special treatment.

More hypocrisy. The good thing is the times wrote a story calling the fascist tactics “controversial.” That’s a first.
