The End Of An Era: Goodbye, Kennedys

Democrats may still be licking their political wounds this week, but 50 years ago Tuesday, the party was ecstatic over the election of John Fitzgerald Kennedy as president of the United States.
**SNIP**
In the heart of Kennedy country in Massachusetts, the milestone evoked some sentimentality. But even to voters like Carol and Steve Doppelt of Framingham, the end of the Kennedy dynasty is also a welcome relief.
"The end of the Kennedy era -- it's hard to believe. Very sad ... very sad," Carol Doppelt said. But "I also feel that there's no royalty in this country, and there comes a point when the best of our representatives should step aside and let new people come in and take over."
"We're not England, we're America -- shouldn't be locked in to one family," Steve Doppelt added.
The two of them say they have only great respect for the Kennedys, but given their anti-incumbent bent this year, even if one had been running, they say they would have voted against that Kennedy, too.

This could not have come soon enough.
Without the Kennedys, the liquor stores in D.C. will be seeking federal bail-outs!!
Did you hear that, Jeb?
LOL.
Rest in Peace Mary Jo Kopechne..
In my life time I have witnessed three great events: the collapse of the Soviet Union, the collapse of the Kennedy dynasty, and man walking on the moon. I just pray that I do not live long enough to see the collapse of the United States.
Yup, a chip off the old neckbrace.
Good riddance!
Which is good, but too bad for Jeb. From what I’ve read, he would actually make a very good POTUS, better than his brother and dad, because he actually listened to the people of his state and responded thoughtfully. Even black democrats liked him (I mean the people, not the elites).
PROVIDENCE, R.I.Rhode Island Democrat David Cicilline (sis-uh-LEE'-nee) has become the fourth openly gay member of Congress, winning the House seat vacated by retiring Rep. Patrick Kennedy.
The 49-year-old Providence mayor beat Republican state Rep. John Loughlin (LOF'-lin) on Tuesday in the race for the 1st District seat Kennedy had held for eight terms. Kennedy announced his retirement this year a few months after the death of his father, Massachusetts' U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.
I’m having a difficult time posting with all my tears.
FREE AT LAST!!!
One big albatross against Jeb Bush besides his last name. Terri Schiavo—Jeb caved to the little swamp judge and did not exude the cajones to step in and save her. That was his shining moment in time but he punted instead-—no more Bushies please!
The BEST???
So at face value, let unqualified rubes in because it is "fair"? How do these people think?
Is there another family name that had a more significant impact on this country in a political sense ?
I feel that a great weight has been lifted, finally.
Another factor that elitism / cronyism / dynastyism is OVER. Can it be that America is waking up ?
We’ll see.
“Good bye???”
Good Riddance!!!
