This isn’t security, DUer. It’s a loss of freedom.

In the right hands, they are not as obtrusive as other preventive measures that American adults undergo routinely.

Whose right hands? The government? You trust the government?

Idiot...

Millions of people every year go for cancer screening, even though they do not have cancer; some have genetics that don’t even make them candidates for cancer. Yet those people often disrobe - or are scantily gowned - in front of the person looking, touching, or even probing internally. All for the goal of prevention. This scanner is a far cry from any of that.

That's right. It's done in public, involuntarily chosen by the TSA, run by non-medical personnel who I seriously doubt are trained in the proper use of the machine, or are capable of being trained in the proper use of the machine.

I am a hard core conservative.

You are no hard core conservative.

I am being completely consistent in my small-goverment, vigorous-security philosophy.

And I’ll put my IQ against those so-called conservatives who insult here.

OK, mr. rocket scientist....

Then by "goverment" do you mean "government"?

And "accommodate" for "accomodate"?

. Remove the persons who are reviewing the scans to an office distant from the machine, so that the TSA official can’t connect the scan to a real face.

Ah, take them off to where they can be molested in private with no witnesses so that if they complain, it's their word against the molester's.

And if there is still titillation generated over that distance, then there is a completely different problem than the one being howled about.

Ever hear of the Fourth Amendment?

Here. Just in case....

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Where are the TSA's search warrants?

If groping and scanning is such a great measure, why is the government considering an exemption for moslems? After all, were it not for the actions of moslems, we wouldn't need such measures.

If you're so desperate for a grope, go stand in the corner and grope yourself you invisible robot fish examiner!

One more thing, you'd better not go all Belgium on me!

Been busy most of the day; this thread (and a couple of others) are sure eye-openers.

Talk about separating the sheep from the goats, metaphorically speaking.

Even DUers hate this! So-called “hard core conservatives” are to the left of DUers! Can you believe it?

I met someone yesterday that bought into "This is necessary". I lit up his ears. I asked him why he thought he needed the government to defend him anyway.

He said "I could get a gun permit".

I asked "Why do you even need the governments permission to defend your family".

I made him very uncomfortable as he'd never thought about it.

Protecting citizens from invasion or enemy attack is one of the few jobs the fedgov is supposed to do.

So it’s quite simple. Screen Muzzies, since they are the only ones doing any terrorist attacking; then the fedgov will be doing their job.

Instead, they’re treating regular people like enemies, and coddling the enemy. This is beyond insane.

And no conservative could possibly think this is okay or useful.

This guy isn’t politically aware so he really thought these screenings were about safety.

Maybe... but how can anyone not know that all Muz terrorism is done by Muzzies?

Oh well. It’s been so long since I got news from TV or newspapers that I just can’t imagine that state of being any more.

He knows it’s muslims. The truth is he probably hasn’t thought about it. He just accepted that it’s necessary. Most people don’t get the same news and commentary that Freepers do. I told him Ben Franklins quote and he just blinked. He’s the same age as my oldest kid and he’s had a public school education. History has been distorted. And he’s just waking up to reality. He’ll get there.

The illogic of you posts is not persuasive. Expanding them in size does not enhance your basic argument: let’s go back to early-generation, cruddy scanners. Also, overstating the truth never carries the day.

Any cursory perusal over my non-scanner posts would reveal a conservative well right of Ronald Reagan on 98% of the topics.

Overstating the truth never carries the day. Neither does outright lying. The truth is, you've come out to the left of DUers on this subject. And the constitutionally recognized right to be secure in our persons is no small subject.

Just so that your faulty judgment is fully exposed, here is what I want to see from our government:

1. A return to first principles, where the federal government is reduced to providing a few main tasks, mostly dealing with the military and national security. The rest of it returns to the states or to private enterprise.

2. Both federal and state spending must be cut severely from present levels. Federal spending cuts, though, cannot be primarily done on the back of the military.

3. Mexican border security is a legitimate task of the federal government, and the illegal hordes must be stopped.

4. Medicare and Social Security must be phased out, if national financial security is to be attained and then retained. Otherwise, talks of real cuts is all hot air.

5. After watching the nation’s finances fall into severe jeopardy over the last 50 years, voter consideration should be given to banning government borrowing except when an actual, valid state of war has been declared by Congress. For anything else, no way.

6. Abortion is murder, should be declared so, and should be outlawed. This is one main reason why I’m a conservative and not a libertarian. Pure libertarian freedom is a mirage, and is not much different from anarchy.

7. Environmentalism beyond rudimentary water and safety standards is a tool being used to strangle the economy and must be curtailed and rolled back.

8. The American legal system is an inefficient, patchwork mess and unknowable in full for anyone. Tort reform should be the first step for reforming the system, but it must be accompanied by severe pruning of the lawbooks. Most regulations must be abandoned en masse.

9. There must be a return to private property rights. Present legal accomodations to NIMBYism Noxious notions ranging from “stakeholders” to “viewsheds” must be ended.

10. Income taxes and corporate taxes must be ended at the national level.

11. In order to crimp the lobbying industry, there should be no exceptions to taxes including food, nor should there be any ability to grant subsidies for any industry at the national level.

12. States should have more flexibility to pass laws that I might find offensive and which contradict the principles above; under the theory that, if one state becomes more burdensome, one can always move to another. The most likely result of such a system would be a beneficial, competitive “race to the bottom” to conservatism that would explode the heads of liberals. Similar to what is happening in Texas today.

Now, ask yourself if you think that I am a troll or a DUer. Or whether you are severely misjudging me because of one relatively minor stand that I happen to be taking.

This is not a minor stand. You’ve come out in favor of a major violation of our constitutionally recognized rights. Some sexual predators are serving time in prison for less intrusive violations. And rightly so. Maybe this kind of thing is no big deal in your mind, but to conservatives, it’s a very big deal.
