L.A. contrail a missile launch? Retired general thinks so (op-ed)

Sliding silently under the mud, muck and fog of national politics, is a current event that makes Bill Clinton’s excursion into the world of elderly sex look tame in comparison. This time the nation’s national security is truly threatened in my opinion, and it involves not only a weak president with limited problem-solving ability, but leadership at the highest levels in the Pentagon as well. The American people would do well to demand a full investigation by an unbiased group, and let the chips fall where they may.

I am referring to the “missile shot” taken off the California coast recently, and the lame response by NORAD, the Pentagon and the White House itself.

(snip)

In my opinion, there is absolutely no doubt that what was captured on video off the coast of California was a missile launch, was clearly observed by NORAD, assessed by a four-star general within minutes, and passed to the president immediately. That is the way the system works, and heads fall if there is a failure. This is one of the most important tenets of national defense and its sole purpose of protecting the American people. Even the smallest failure in this system gets intense scrutiny at the highest level.

Now, the question that still must be answered is why NORAD’s muted response was simply that North America was not threatened, and later our government approved the lame excuse that the picture recorded was simply an aircraft leaving a contrail. This decision was made far above the four-star level, and because the system in place demands it, was made by the president himself.

Making things up is an EPIC FAIL.

And what will happen when Congress either...

1. Doesn’t bother because they call NORAD up and NORAD says “It sure wasn’t a missile.”

2. Tells you “Sorry, turns out it’s classified, but it wasn’t a threat.”

3. Does a big investigation and a NORAD general is asked “Were there any missile warnings at NORAD on the afternoon of 8 November” and says “No.”

I’m sorry, but I don’t think more than 10 % of the the folks on FR right know saying this was a missile would believe NORAD or Congress if they said it was an airplane. They would just lump Congress and NORAD into the “sophisticated effort.”

I also know that on earlier threads, you stated this was a missile launch, not a commercial airline contrail. And I agree, in part because the angle of the setting sun negates any claim that it could be illuminating an eastbound object.

Well, I was only offering my *opinion*, like everyone else here.

Thanks.

It is an abstract for a Masters thesis.

I'll have to order the thing if it is not classified or FOUO.

Just from reading the synopsis it looks like they are having trouble with nozzle control during the spin even after adding a feedback controller that tries to keep the guidance computer from trying to over control or halt the rate of spin.

Not sure why they want to spin a ICBM during first stage burn as a guidance system would have to be built and programmed to use this technique. The thrust controls would have to be able to respond to the spin inputs and that would be problematic due to spin rates.

I know I am an old head and new things have to be invented but I need to find out if this is just a thesis limited to academics or if this is something the AF is actively prosecuting.

That looks more like a FedEx plane than UPS902.

I think it is an older paper. I can’t sort out the technical details. I appreciate your input.

Who knows, but we are being fed a total line of CRAP by this administration.

Well, that fits in seamlessly with everything else this administration has said and done.

OK, so that’s two USAF generals speaking out and I knew both of them.

You sure must be doing something right to have met such men.

Jimmy Cash is a fighter pilot’s fighter pilot and probably saw a few contrails and missile launches in his lifetime.

FTA: "The sole purpose of the F-106 assignment was to maintain an ability to become airborne in minutes to intercept inbound bombers posing a threat to the U.S. mainland. Untold hours were spent studying and being tested on visually identifying an air-to-air threat to include its type and threat potential."

I don't know what the Air Force slang is for that job assignment but "Missile Chaser" seems like it would be a good one. I expect the training is somewhat rigorous.

Hmmm...what part did I make up? The fact that the photos exist, the timeframe or the price and manufacturer of the camera?

And you think I would make such a claim and not expect to be challenged....why, exactly?

This should be fun.

Seems to me, as it does to you, that there would be no reason to spin an ICBM before warhead separation. Might as well spin an F-16 for stability, too.

Of COURSE it was a missile launch. Anyone who knows anything about these matters can see the consistent symmetric turns in the contrail that scream “spin stabilized missile.” A plane simply cannot make those. Amazed that so few can see/understand this...

Agree. Live in L.A. seen thousands of aircraft contrails and probably about a dozen missile shots out of Vandenberg AFB. Yeah, and the angle of the missile contrails does look a little funny.
1) I’ve never seen a plane contrail that was hugely wide on the bottom and narrow on top — doesn’t mean it couldn’t just never seen it happen.
2) the pattern of the CBS contrail matched what I’ve seen from Vandenberg AFB.
3) The language coming from the military and Norad types sounded just a little too parsed, followed by a goofy “it was a plane explanation”.

Anyone who read the article, I wonder if you also read the first comment. This person is truly a democrat/liberal. He slammed the general’s comments and observations as being just a kook who has worn a bunch of stars on his collar.

Yes, every General or Sec of Defense who has told the truth has been slammed; and usually very early out of the box. Almost like these contrail screamers are constantly patrolling the Internet, looking to attack ...

Hmmmmmmmm

Wonder why that would be ???

Who you gonna believe? This idiot or a bunch of anonymous forum posters and an anonymous contrail/”chemtrail” expert?

/s for the humor impaired

Yeah! Some screaming sneering insulting blogging posters, or your own two lying eyes.???

BTW

Anyone can see it, if you have even seen a single missile rise above your head ... it’s easy. As MANY have pointed out.

Retired Generals are a dime a dozen, it’s the internet contrail experts that are few.
lol. I swear there must be people getting paid to trash the missle theory. There are tons of them on FR.

I can only suggest that the “debate” we’ve been having here has run any useful course it had. Now I think it would be better to all demand some answers.
From KCBS; the full unedited tape, uploaded to the internet in the highest quality form possible, exact time stamps, coordinates of the helo and altitude, compass direction the camera was pointing and when and if they alerted the Navy.

Good luck.

IF this was a foreign nation missile launch, do you feel that CBS and our government will help you with the above things?

Beck called around, Canada Free Press called around, even someone I know called around, all came back saying Chinese shot across our bow, did they not?

All the unsourced rumors have lined up in a single row.

But, if we could get the tape released we could see the truth, and provably for ourselves.

I don’t think the government wants that to happen.

The fact that Obama is covering it up tells you how serious it was. The government has no answer as to HOW a Chinese sub was able to approach the American coastline and launch a missile undetected. I’ll bet you that patrols off the west coast had been curtailed, to save money, or whatever. Obama covers it up to stop the political backlash that would certainly occur if the truth was told...

Obama is putting our country in jeopardy! You won’t know about it just like you didn’t know about Clinton loosing the launch codes. We should bombard our Senators and Congressmen for answers, at least!

I agree.

Yep, I called it a huey too but I meant a chinook. I have always confused the names of those two choppers. The chinook is the big chopper with a rotor on each end. Next the spelling police will come in and attack from that angle.

Well you’ve blown the lid off this thing. Anyone who thinks that this is not a missile is a China-loving Obama supporter.

Only true patriots can see that this is a missile.
Or anyone with eyes.

Including two Generals and one Under Secretary of Defense!!!

And the count is rising!

Yes!

He’s finally got it.!

Well, I guess the Chinese are firing SLBMs out Lake Michigan, because I saw at least two contrails with those "consistent symmetric turns" today here in Illinois.

Chinese SLBMs are two stage and ours are three stage. Why is no stage separation seen in the video or Warren's photos, or mentioned in eyewitness accounts?

An SLBM reaches its target in 10 to 15 minutes. How can a guy with a $900 Nikon can photograph an SLBM five minutes after launch when it should be in outer space, as Warren did?

Oh, and were you aware that another Freeper has proven the video is heavily edited and caught CBS lying about it?
