You know this lionizes Ike, and yes, Ike was one hell of a general, without whose leadership WW2 may have been lost.
However, let’s understand what it takes:
Generals aren’t wusses and they aren’t saints. It was ugly and Ike was ugly in return. Look it up, I won’t put it here.
Ike laid the foundations for our military strength in WWIII (which I consider to be up to when the wall went down in 1989—the Cold War) and put in place the interstate highway system, which is actually a system for moving heavy equipment cross country in wartime.
Ike’s Presidency illustrates why it is NECESSARY to have a military background to function properly as leader of the United States.
For the sake of the future of the United States, requirement for a military background to run for president of the US should never be overlooked. And yes, there should be a loyalty requirement. US interests over all others or get a different job.
