TSA full-body scanners at airports supported by majority of Americans, half against pat-downs: poll How much of this pat down operation was to get people to not ask questions about the safety and privacy of the full body scanners? If the choice was between full body x-rays vs metal detector with being wanded, everyone would take the metal detector. It looks like the TSA is playing bad cop/worse cop.
