HENDERSON, Nev. -- A family is grieving the loss of their dog after an off-duty police officer shot the dog to death during an afternoon walk with its owner's mother.
Gurinder Kaur's mother was walking 4-year-old German shepherd "King" along their street, but just minutes after she left, Kaur said she received a frantic call from her mother. "'King is dead,'" she said his mother told her. "I said, 'What?'"

Stupid cop is probably lying. We give them too much power sometimes

There was no mention of the dog’s Costco membership.
Best not give ol’ Scott a “Good Job” slap at the softball game.
Dogs can sense evil...perhaps the cop was a demo-rat?
Sad to say, but a lot of cops nowadays are belligerent a$$holes. I own a shepherd with a similar ‘playful’ spirit. This was uncalled for. Tough guy with a gun vs. a dog.
The printed article: “Neighbors agreed the dog was well-behaved.”
The audio: “The dog was “mostly” well-behaved.”
Husband and wife cops decide to get rid of neighborhood dog. They will hide behind their police authority regarding dogs. This was planned; they worked as a team.
They will pay eventually. They are cowards.
But Kaur said her dog was being playful, not aggressive.

The woman should NEVER have let go of the leash, precisely for the above reason. Some people don’t understand dogs much and are frightened of them.
The lady had regained the dogs leash when it was shot, which to me is like shooting someone in the back. Nobody was hurt and grandma had the leash again.
The leash should NEVER have been let go but that stupid police woman should never have shot that dog, considering what is reported of the incident.
The rescue I volunteer for are reluctant to allow cops to adopt their dogs. They have a tendency not to take the time to be with the dogs or train them, and return the dogs like used socks. On the other hand, fire fighters tend to be good adoptors.
Did he shoot the dog while it was under control? If so, the SOB's next job should be hauling out trash at McDonald's.
Let me get this straight...the woman (owner) was in control of the dog on his leash and the cop walks out and shoots the dog.
That idiot would be in a world of hurt where I live. You can’t just randomly start shooting in a public street. I don’t care who you are. If that moron had missed and hit the woman or worse yet a kid.....well, that is why you don’t go shooting a firearm in a neighborhood at anything.
I think the Chief of Police should be looking into this matter closely. I would never trust this “cowgirl” in any situation. I sure wouldn’t want to be around her with a weapon in her hand. She is a loose cannon.
“Did he shoot the dog while it was under control? If so, the SOB’s next job should be hauling out trash at McDonald’s.”
Respectfully, I disagree. The thug-with-a-gun shot a dog when it was on leash and not on his property.. Regardless of his personal feelings that the dog was dangerous, assuming such trash can think in any real sense of the word, the dog was on a leash and posed no threat.
TrashCop should be held personally liable for the loss of the dog, infliction of mental suffering on the owner and the family of the dog owner. Additionally, TrashCop should be prosecuted criminally for animal cruelty.
It is LEO’s like this who give the rest a bad name.
My apologies, I forgot that TrashCop is a female. She seems to be on the way to becoming the PosterPerson for the 2010 out-of-control “Di*kless Tracy” award as well.
I'll second that! The husband's a firefighter and is great with our two adopted dogs, probably spends more time with them then with me on some days!
I used to have the utmost respect for all Police Officers, I was brought up that way. Most Police officers we know through the FD are wonderful, but there is that small percentage of disrespectful, power hungry, know-it-alls that can make a whole department look bad. Used to be one cop around here thought he was “all that” and used to mow his lawn in, what I called, his 1980’s pervert style gym shorts, no shirt, but holster with gun! He's no longer around — the Feds hired him!
They love killing dogs, don’t they. It kinda gets that need to kill out of their system without having to pay a price. Dogs are nice easy targets.
The cops story doesn’t add up. I see unemployment in her future. At least a new address.
