WaPo’s Richard Cohen Shows His Bias And His True (Racist) Colors In Palin Hit Piece
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Lori Ziganto

Posted on 11/24/2010 3:41:26 AM PST by Michael van der Galien

These days, the biased leftist slant of the media is more apparent than it has ever been. They are spinning madly, increasingly frantic with fear of those super scary Tea Partiers and oh-so-terrifying conservatives. And when you add Sarah Palin and race-based identity politics into the mix, it becomes a perfect storm of unabashed — and unbalanced — leftist water carrying.

The Washington Post’s Richard Cohen is the latest to exhibit just how unglued the Left and the media, being concentric circles on a Venn diagram, natch, have become. Newsbusters points out that in the article titled “Attack on Michelle Obama shows Palin’s ignorance of history,” Cohen comes to the inane, and typically leftist, conclusion that Sarah Palin “could not be the president of black America nor of Hispanic America.” Um. Sure, I’m no swanky-pants Washington Post columnist, nor do I even have the vast experience of a community organizer from which to draw, but I’m fairly certain that the presidency isn’t segregated.

Can’t let pesky facts stand in the way of a hit piece, though, can he? How does Cohen form his brilliant – and sure-fire entre into a good cocktail party this weekend – hypothesis? Because Sarah Palin dares to mention the following in her new book:

In her new book, she reportedly takes Michelle Obama to task for her supposedly infamous remark from the 2008 campaign: “For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.” [...]

Huh. Again, I’m no expert, but it seems to me that Michelle Obama actually did say that. So, by “taking her to task,” he of course means smearing with, you know, the truth.

Everyone knows that Ms. Palin is ignorant, stupid and has no sense, and that President Bush is illiterate, that conservatives are knuckle-dragging, ignorant, neanderthal dolts who are dangerous to democracy, and that Mr. Cohen and all of his progressive pals in the media are brilliant, really really smart, intelligent, bright, geniuses who should govern us all.

I’m seeing way too much of Sarah. All of her press is showing me she is one of “us”... I want to know why she she is able to lead my country.

I watch her show and enjoy it but I think all this press is backfiring on her. There is SO MUCH DRAMA in her life.

No, I am not a troll... I’m pushing for John Bolton for prez.

The Liberals need to be eliminated from Congress and the WH and confined to the MSM where they can be ignored.

Sarah Palin “could not be the president of black America nor of Hispanic America.”

I am black. But I would rather have a white Sarah Palin as POTUS than the black, America-hating socialist we have now.

After the recent election, combined with “Kennedy’s seat” going to Scott Brown and the Christie win in NJ, does anyone think that the Kenyan Pirate is the president of “white America”? It wasn’t just swing voters that deserted him; Hillary’s “white liberals” (the hard-working white people) have as well. Conservative blacks and Hispanics (whatever their numbers) were never supportive of him anyway, so at this point he is the president to a dwindling number of blacks (many who voted for him are still furious that he hasn’t paid their rent or bought their gasoline) and even less Hispanics. This country is now operating as though he already resigned and we are waiting until 2012 to replace him; our first (and probably last) “black” president has already been consigned to the dustbin of history.

Palin will probably get the nomination. Condi Rice will probably be a finalist for veep. Richard Cohen can blather on and on all he likes. Everyone, even the stupid, will know that he is full of crap.

O’Reilly thinks Rubio is a lock for the Veep, and I can see the wisdom of that. Assuming he has an uneventful couple of years in the Senate.

I really like Palin and would support her if she was nominated by the GOP. That being said - I do not see her as a Reagan or Thatcher. I’m sure I’ll hear it from a lot of folks here, but I just don’t think she’s there - yet. I would love to hear her speaking like Rubio or West, but she hasn’t shown that to me.

I think her best attribute is her power to explode liberal heads at will. Palin has a lot of political clout - whether the establishment GOP likes it or not. I’d love to see her take over the RNC chair from Steele, though I don’t think she needs that to increase her influence in promoting conservative values and candidates.

How is it that experience is a necessary quality for conservative candidates. Clearly the nomination and election of Obama ended this requirement for the presidency. If anyone can be nominated and elected for any reason, liberals need to come clean about their opposition of Palin. Or, perhaps they are.
Perhaps libs should be taken at their word that Palin’s looks, speech pattern, life style, religious persuasion, and family are the only important qualitifactions for the presidency. After all, Obama was elected because he is clean and speaks well.

Blacks will never vote in large numbers for a Republican. Why should Sarah have to genuflect to the alter racial grievance?

Not to mention, the First Wookie has done quite well for herself in America and shows no gratitude at all. I laugh out loud when she tells the story about how she was told that she didn’t have the scores to get accepted into Princeton. She stepped on the back of some poor Asian dude to get their via Affirmative Action.

“I’m seeing way too much of Sarah. All of her press is showing me she is one of “us”... I want to know why she she is able to lead my country.”

Agree. Her (and her family’s) everlasting exposure in so many venues is only cheapening her and her image.

I don’t think there’s any question that Palin has more experience at governing than Obama ever had. You won’t get an argument from me there.

I’ve never thought she was unqualified. As an orator I think she needs work. Her religion, folksiness and family are all assets as far as I’m concerned. There’s no doubt she’s capable. I’m still waiting for more home run speeches like the one she gave when she first acccepted the VP nomination.

She has been giving home run speeches. They have not, however, been in large venues. Her speech in Japan last year and her recent speech on economics were noteworthy in this respect.
She has demonstrated, to the closely informed, that she is far more competent in economic matters than Obama. The media, of course, has a vested interest in preventing this from becoming widely known.
Expect to see her in larger, more popular venues with stronger, more detailed policy positions. Currently she is doing what she does best, linking up with average Americans.
The confidence that the left vested in Obama is paralleled by the right’s commitment to Sarah. She is, by any measure, nicer.
