My family, as it happens, is taking the bus to Grandma's this Thanksgiving. But our choice of transportation has nothing to do with anxiety about leering security screeners or fear of pat-downs.
The uproar over the new procedures is overblown and immature. The marginal invasion of privacy is small relative to the potential benefit of averting a terrorist attack. Meanwhile, some of the loudest howls of outrage emanate from those who would be quickest to blame the Obama administration for not doing enough to protect us if a bomber did slip through.
Granted, the images from the souped-up screeners are uncomfortably graphic. But where is the harm if some guy in another room, who doesn't have a clue who I am and doesn't see my face (it's obscured on the machine), gets a look at my flabby middle-aged self? The images are automatically deleted once the screening is completed. It's the old philosophical riddle: If your butt sags in the forest . . .
By contrast, the pat-down is actually intrusive, no question about it. But you most likely won't have to endure it unless you balk at the enhanced imaging. If you do, the pat-down will be conducted by a screener of the same gender. If you want, it can be done in a private area.

It’s always “just a little” until all of a sudden we have zero privacy. That’s pretty much the way it already is for the peasants.
Those who live in gated communities or off the grid in the woods might still have a modicum of privacy from the spy satellites and vans.
The rest of us can only sit with drawn shades at street view unless we want them looking in, and no more private backyards unless we have a canopy over it. And of course they have those vans that can spy inside homes now.
And dare we leave our house, there are cameras to watch us, BP, DUI, and Agriculture checkpoints to monitor and interrogate us.

I think the author is going to have a heck of a time convincing America that having a TSA agent grope a seven year old provides us with a safer flying experience.

It is almost like a “scolding”. So, who really gets hurt if someone sees you naked or feels your hoo-has? Get over yourself... it is for EVERYONE’S safety.

from the same filthy woman who decried Bush military tribunals only for terrorists held at Gitmo. She wants them to have all the rights afforded citizens of our Country, but wants Citizens of our Country to be patted down like terrorists.
On the other hand, if this was occurring under GWB, I'll bet more than a few Republicans as well as Freepers would be saying "Hey, it aint that much of a price to pay for security"...
