Taliban true to Islamic Ideology, claims Pakistani Tourism Minister

Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Tourism has said that the Taliban truly represent Islamic ideology, resulting in their vilification by the United States of America, according to local media reports in the country.

Maulana Attaur Rehman was reported by the Pakistan-based newspaper Dawn to have made the claims at a public gathering in the country this week, claiming terrorism cannot be defeated unless the US and the world gave respect and equal rights to “the muslims”.

Rehman is a member of Pakistan’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam political party, the newspaper adds.

“Ulema and Taliban are the true followers of Islamic ideology and America is the biggest terrorist of the world, which is creating hatred against them,” said Rehman.

“It is a misconception that ulema and Taliban are against coexistence of people with different religions, in fact it is America which is against the interfaith harmony to maintain its hegemony on the world,” he added.

Definitely a case of "true colors" here. First of all, this type of view from a Pakistani government official is the rule, not the exception. And this guy is in charge of TOURISM. Secondly, he is right about the Taliban and Islamic doctrine. The Taliban's goals are grounded in fundamental, contemporary interpretation of Islamic scripture from the Quran and the Hadith. The Taliban's main goal is Shariah rule and the establishment of the Caliphate. This is supposed to be the goal of all Muslims. It is not, but it IS the goal of Islam. Remember, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Pakistan were the only nations on earth to recognize the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. These are 3 leading Islamic nations...this is no accident.

In other words, he’s saying that there can be no justice, until there is “just us”.

Obama went there as a tourist back in his college days (I wonder what kind of passport he used?).

I’m not sure what country it was from, but I’ll bet it looked suspiciously like teleprompter. ;)

“It is not, but it IS the goal of Islam. Remember, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Pakistan were the only nations on earth to recognize the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.”

The Taliban is also the creation of a process of fusion of interests -

a. Islamic fundamentalism among the Pashtun - the largest ethnic group in Afghanistan;

b. Islamic nationalism of Pakistan;

c. Pakistan’s ISI (intelligence services) and their desire and mission to try to shape and control who is in charge in Afghanistan;

d. Saudi and Gulf money that is married to advancement of Islamic fundamentalism.

The U.S. was always the rich uncle who paid to go along for the ride, more than a man in charge, and quit that role when the Soviets left and before the Pakistani ISI molded the Taliban together to try to dominate the chaos that reigned after the Soviets departed.

Today,

Pakistani Islamic nationalism

+ Islamic fundamentalism within the dominate ethnic group - the Pashtun (dominant in both Afghanistan and Pakistan)

+ the Pashtun dominance of the Taliban

DOES equal a continued fusion of Pakistani & Taliban interests (with the Gulf states and the Saudi interests continuing to be the largest block of outside $upport for the Taliban).
