Has anyone here ever seen anyone in a bassitball game get their lip busted so bad that it required 12 stitches to sew it up?
I saw someone get his bottom lip torn through by the sparring partner's heel during a black belt exam and it took a bunch of stitches, inside and outside. You generally have more stitches if you want to minimize scarring. If you took an elbow to the mouth as you were moving one way and the elbow was moving another way, your lip, caught between the elbow and the teeth, could easily get cut through, especially with a shearing force applied.
