Adult Stem Cells do not have any place in the Abortion debate, and are therefore politically irrelevant. The only reason people cared about Embryonic Stem Cells was because the Pro-Choicers were tired of getting their butts kicked over Partial Birth Abortion, so they wanted to shift the debate to the opposite end of the gestational spectrum.

Antipathy for adult stem cells, or any not of killed embryo origin is centered in the Culture of Death, which encompasses also abortion advocacy.
BTW, research using embryonic stem cells has not been banned by law; only funding by taxpayer-derived funds was banned. Advocates of the Culture of Death insist on government funding because of the public endorsement it implies.
