Bolton confirms 2012 interest

In an interview on Aaron Klein's radio show, former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton confirmed his interest in the 2012 presidential race while taking the opportunity to critique President Obama's foreign policy, arguing that the president is not comfortable advancing American interests around the globe and prefers to focus on domestic policies.

When asked about his interest in challenging Obama, Bolton said, "Yes, I am considering it. And largely for the reasons we just talked about. I am very concerned about the direction of national security policy. I am concerned that we hardly talk about it at national-level debates in the mainstream media. The president, as they say, just seems to view national security issues as an irritation, as a distraction from what his real priorities are."

Bolton is great but he needs to be our Secretary of State. I think in order to win we need a younger, vibrant looking candidate against obama. American voters are not educated enough to vote on policy stances alone. Whether we like it or not, looks and age count in today’s world.

a vote for anyone other than Palin this time around is in effect a defacto vote for Romney.

Bull crap.

Hey, I wouldn’t mind too much if he put together a good campaign and won the nomination. I think it’s more likely he’s either your next Secretary of State or National Security Advisor. I wouldn’t discourage him from running, though. Come on in, podnah. The water’s fine.

How’d your guy do last time?

That’s what I thought.

And you can keep your references to bovine excrement to yourself.

How’d ‘your guy’ do?

Exactly my point.

I have studied the 2008 elections because they broke my heart....and gave us the Obamination.

As conservatives we keep splitting our votes among several conservative candidates. Each one appeals to certain elements of conservatism, but we dig in our heels and refuse to compromise a little on one that could win...and viola! the establishment RINO wins the nomination.

I am trying to look at this a little bit pragmatically.

Now I understand you have some oddball ideas about women in politics, so I'm not too concerned about the nutjob fringe you apparently represent...but our only real choices this time are Romney, the establishment choice and Palin, the populist conservative choice.

If you're not with us...well, you know...

You can be as pragmatic as you want. The last time out the frontrunners out the gate were Rudy McRomney, with Huck making an unexpected surge later. If I was a pragmatist like you, I could have divined some point or another that made one of those four the least RINO-ish and supported him. But I didn’t. And I won’t with the new anointed media frontrunners this time, whether it’s Palin, Mitt, Huck , Newt, Tpaw, Daniels, Thune, etc.

I’ll save my primary vote for a proven conservative. If we get stuck with one of the above, then that’s a conversation for another day.

That’s fine, but as JimRob has said, this is Palin country, and your continual sniping is getting old.

You’re like an annoying little ...pissant.

I don’t think you have the self awareness to realize what a joke you have become on here.

Don’t you have a Falcon Party forum you can spread your nonsense on? Seriously, dude....

I’m pretty sure Jimrob would be quite happy with a DeMint or Pence as well. The only difference is you won’t see DeMint and Pence supporters hiding behind Jim and/or the mods like the cultists do.

As for me being a joke, fine by me. I couldn’t possibly care less what the cultists think of me. Many others, some of whom I have had serious, substantial disagreements with over the years, at least recognize my intellectual honesty. For example, I reject Squeaky’s pitch for amnesty just as much as McCain’s or Rudy’s. The cultists on the other hand, will twist and spin their idol’s blathering to make her sound like another DeMint or Inhofe. You have a funny theology.

I gave Bolton the DP test. This is the test I give every candidate mentioned as a good possibility by Freepers.

The DP (Domestic Partner) is very conservative but for reasons of his sanity avoids the news and only hears the most obvious things mentioned everywhere.

I ask if he knows who X person is. If he says ‘no’ I think that person has zero chance of winning. If the DP has not heard of him, he cannot generate sufficient steam to win in a year and a half.

Bobby Jindal: failed.
Rubio: failed.
John Bolton: failed.
Chris Christy: failed.

I like Bolton, but he’s not exactly Mr. Personality. I loved what he said about the United Nations.

I wouldn’t call it hijacked. But when we’re talking possible candidates, it’s pretty hard to ignore Sarah.

Curious here. Who is your conservative candidate?

Surely not Bolton.

I may have missed it but all I’ve seen from you is negativity.

DeMint or Pence?

Ten dollars says neither of them would pass the DP test.

Nobody knows and nobody cares.

The main thing we need to do is somehow avoid letting democrats vote in Republican primaries.

Believe it or not, pissy's candidate is Duncan Hunter.

He has this insane belief that if he takes down the front running conservative, somehow his candidate will resurrect and lead the party to victory.

You were right to say all you've seen is negativity, it's all he's got.......well, except delusional misogynistic lunacy......

DeMint, Pence, Bolton, Rounds, Hunter, Inhofe, Cain, Bachmann, McDonnell. IOW, a conservative.

As Billyboy once said it would be fun to see him whip Thune in a debate or something.

Thanks for replying, Pissant. I see you stuck Hunter in there. Ha!

And you put Bachman in there ... she is a woman, you may not have noticed.

I like DeMint, Pence and Bolton. They’ll have to mount up pretty soon to gain any traction. Well, Bolton doesn’t have an ice cube’s chance in the hot place. He would make the second coming sound dull.

Inhofe and Cain are 100 to 1 shots (and that’s optimistic)

I don’t even know who McDonnell is.

If Inhofe and Cain or Bolton or Hunter are 100 to 1 or 1000 to 1 shots, and Sarah Gingromabee is 2 to 1, then that’s all we need to know about the dismal state of the conservatism in the GOP.

Rush was just talking about Thomas Sowell piece about ‘what Republicans will speak for us.’

This was about what Repubs in Congress will have the cajones to tell the truth about tax cuts, taxes for the rich and all that stuff.

It will be interesting to watch which of the people you and others are for in 2012. How many of them will show courage and conviction and be willing to speak for conservative causes?

And how many of them will be able to get that message out?

And, by the way, you lose much of your fragile credibility by calling Palin supporters cultists.

I could call you a Hunter cultist but who the heck could possibly be that. Anyway, I wouldn’t do it. Liking and supporting a candidate you dislike does not make one a cultist.
