Obama Announces Federal Pay Freeze
The American Thinker ^ | November 29, 2010 | Ed Lasky

Stop the presses! Barack Obama just announced a freeze on federal civilian salaries. From the Washington Post:

"The freeze applies to all Executive Branch workers -- including civilian employees of the Defense Department, but does not apply to military personnel, government contractors, postal workers, members of Congress, Congressional staffers, or federal court judges and workers.

'Getting this deficit under control is going to require some broad sacrifices and that sacrifice must be shared by the employees of the federal government,' Obama said in a speech Monday afternoon explaining the decision. He added, 'I did not reach this decision easily, this is not a line item on a federal ledger, these are people's lives.'

The freeze would take effect on Jan. 1, pending Congressional approval by the end of this year. The 2012 pay freeze will be proposed as part of fiscal 2012 budget proposals to be unveiled early next year.

The pay change will not impact bonuses for federal workers or when a federal worker is promoted to a new level of pay, meaning federal workers promoted in the next two years will receive a new level of pay, but not receive any additional annual raises.

The decision will save the government about $2 billion for the remainder of fiscal year 2011 and $28 billion over the next five years, the White House said. The long-term savings come from lowering the government's base compensation over the next two years."

Well...exactly, Mr. President.

No wonder you and Michelle have advocated public service to college graduates -- it's a sweet deal

See what happens when you decide to ignore what Obama says and look at what he does instead?

You find out what a lying phony he really is.

Year 1: Give huge raises across the board to all civil servants.

Year 2: Freeze salaries

The raises should cover the two-year freeze. Up on the hill this is the oldest trick in the book. Slimeballs.

What aabout step increases, year end bonuses and promotions. And while I'm ranting about this liar's lie, what about the pensions that any non-gov't worker can only dream of having... is ZerO freezing that as well? No, I think not.

It's all trash... Don't buy into it for one second.

This only applies to COLA’s inflaton adjustment on wages but real wage increases are not affected.
B.S.

What’s are the savings but a spit in the ocean. The deficit
for this year is $1.3 Trillion.

Zer0 believes we will buy this feeble attempt to veer to the center.

Sounds like they learned it from retailers.

Raise prices then hold a big “sale.” “Prices slashed,” etc.

We need to rid ourselves of all his czars and at least 25% of the federal workforce.

Before the end of 2010 and then do the same for 2011.

“The freeze”... “does not apply to military personnel, government contractors, postal workers, members of Congress, Congressional staffers, or federal court judges and workers.”

It look like the fat cats are exempt!!

I’ve borrowed and spent $1400 this year but I’m going to make a cut that saves $28.00 over the next five years. See how good I am with money?

What’s left?

Smoke and mirrors. All federal workers who are at Steps 1-3 in their grade will still get raises because they get bumped up a Step automatically every year. 50% of federal workers at steps 4-6 will still get raises because they get bumped up a Step automatically every two years. 33.3% of federal workers at steps 7-10 will still get raises because they get bumped up a Step automatically every three years.

A short time ago, I sold used cars here in Grand Rapids, MI

We NEVER placed the price of the vehicle on the “LOT” vehicle itself. Only on the internet would a price be displayed. And, there was always wiggle room priced into the advertised price.

Sales fliers would go out and people would come in with their $2,000 discount ticket they received in the mail because they believed they were the lucky winner. Little did they know the “SALES PRICE” written on the windshield in bright paint was bumped $2000 from where we used to begin the negotiations and all the prices disappeared from the internet the night before. Price is all about deception. It is sad our political system is all about salesmanship.

I believe it was 2%, hardly huge. But after the two year pay freeze, he’ll propose a raise (no matter how small) because it’s election time and the retards will vote him in again.

Except no one received huge raises in year one. You know not what you speak of.

“December 23, 2009 - Today, President Obama issued an executive order implementing an overall 2.0 percent 2010 federal pay raise for civil employees.” Look it up. Two percent is huge compared to private sector losing their jobs.
