I have a buddy and once he hit a small DART bus that had run a red light.

The bus tipped onto it's side.

He helped the injured passengers. Helped with the police.

The police recognized he was not a fault and let him go home.

Four hours later they ( the police) came knocking: ‘Hey, we forgot yo give you a breathalyzer test...’

He had a few beers just to calm his nerves after the accident.

He blew a < .10 and was OK.

Now days, shees! I hate to think!

Not really that unusual. Hit and run drivers often race home and take some snorts before the cops come to cover up their condition when the accident occurred. I’ve seen it work more than once.

I once heard someone say to keep a half pint UNOPENED in the glove box
so that in the event you were ever pulled over and you had been drinking
you should let the cop see you crack the seal and take a big slug
so that any breathalyzer test that was given would be irrelevant
because the alcohol registered happened after the police stop.

You’d have to drink the half-pint outside the car. Otherwise, you’re still drinking while operating.
