Dean tells AP Obama must reclaim progressive base
By Beth Fouhy, Associated Press
Tue Nov 30, 2:47 pm ET

NEW YORK – Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean has a message for President Barack Obama: Reclaim progressive voters or risk both re-election and the future of the Democratic Party for years to come.

**SNIP**

He dismissed Obama's efforts to court conservatives as "a waste of time" even as the president was meeting with Republican congressional leaders at the White House for the first time since the midterm elections.

Dean noted that Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell has vowed to make Obama a one-term president.

"You can't deal with people like that — you're not going to placate the conservatives," Dean said. "They're out to get you and they've placed that as their highest interest."

The Tea Party will be back in force and the RATS will get pounded again in 2012. Maybe Howie should just shutup and collect his Sosha Security while he still can.

So Dean runs as a yelling lefty radical (”Yeaahhhh!”) in 2004 and loses. So then he gets the DNC chair, runs candidates who fake like their conservative and military supporters, and wins.

Dean didn’t do so well himself in 2004 and the 2010 elections were pretty much a nay vote on the progressive agenda.

In other words— keep giving advice, Dean!!!

Go Dean! :p

Actually, we should keep Howard ranting.. he's no value to us while quiet. And one thing I will say -- yes, he's certifiably loony, but to his credit, he lets you know exactly where he stands.. he doesn't pretend to be anything or anyone other than who he is.

I am SO counting on Obama to take his advice. Go head. Embrace Michael Moore and ACORN and then try to run on that in 2012.

Obama’s base is the 25% of the population who are union members (especially public unions,) academia lefties (including students,) and African-Americans. Opposing him is the 35% of the base who are patriotic capitalists (e.g., The Tea Party.) The wishy-washy 40% remaining are the so-called independents who showed, in the recent election, that they want no part of Obama’s statism.

Obama is thus between a rock and a hard place. The more he caters to his base, the more independents he loses, and the more energized the Tea Party becomes. His only correct political move, therefore, would be to do a Bill Clinton (via Dick Morris) triangulation, moving to the center to try to capture the independents, without totally alienating his lefty base. He’s either too stubborn or too committed to Marxism to do that, so, barring any unforeseen major geopolitical event, he will be a one-term president.

Unemployment will still be above 8% nationally, the economy still not having rebounded sufficiently (stagflation). The housing market will still be weighing down on us. At that point do you seriously think the majority of Americans will vote a 2nd time around for this putz and his commie cronies that have just looted our treasury? His only hope is create civil strife, suspend the constitution and implement martial law if he wants to retain power.

I just hope the next 2 years the GOP goes after Obama and his dem corruptocrats hard on investigations. Drain the swamp, bring it all out into the light of day, which will provide fuel to further strengthen the Tea Party movement for 2012 and takeover of our federal government.

Obama isn’t running in “12. We need to expect a moderate democrat up for a win in 2012. Maybe Hillary, but doubtful.
No way is Obama able to run.

Progressive simply means Fascist.
