Palestinian Refugees: The Perpetual Barrier to Peace?
Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs ^ | December 2, 2010 | Jonathan Halevi

Posted on 12/02/2010 3:54:32 AM PST by jerusalemjudy

The gap between Israel and the Palestinians on the refugee question cannot be reconciled. Palestinians demand a "just peace," which implies recognition of the right of return and rejects any compromise on the issue.

The Palestinian position looks to UN resolutions that uphold the right of return as a "private right" of every refugee. This means that representatives of the Palestinian people have no authority to waive this right in the name of the refugees.

According to the Palestinian consensus, non-implementation of the right of return will leave open the gates of the conflict with Israel. This implies justification for the continued armed struggle against Israel even following the establishment of a Palestinian state.

By rejecting the resettlement of the refugees in any Arab state, the Arab Peace Initiative essentially leaves each refugee with no choice but to go to Israel itself. The Arab states rejected any solution that involves "resettling [of the Palestinians] outside of their homes.

The transfer of border crossings to Palestinian control and/or the establishment of a Palestinian state is likely to bring about a wave of immigration, combined with a mass expulsion of Palestinians toward the Palestinian territory. This could lead to the infiltration by Palestinians into Israeli territory, as well as legal claims by refugees at the International Court in The Hague for the right of return, restitution of property, and compensation.

Since the Israeli consensus holds that the mass return of Palestinian refugees to Israel means national suicide, Israel will require robust international support in negotiations on a final status agreement to reach an accord on the basis of defensible borders, and to find a permanent solution to the refugee problem based primarily on the Palestinian refugees receiving citizenship in their host countries or their absorption in a Palestinian state.

They were refugees around 60 years ago. It’s safe to say most of them have died by now. Their children and grandchildren aren’t refugees.

These people helped to start at least 3 wars with Israel and lost them all. Why Israel continues to tolerate such violent savages within its own borders is beyond me.

The only way there will be earthly peace within Israel is when all of the savages either surrender or are removed from the country.

There is no so-called “palestine”, nor are there any “palestinians” but for various conglomerations of predominantly islamist arabs who should rather be killed en masse in the warfare they seek.

Actually the whole area is "Palestine" including Jordan, Israel and Syria...so they're all Palestinians.

various conglomerations of predominantly islamist arabs

Yassar Arafat was an Egyptian, and the West Bankers are Jordanian riff-raff. They have "refugee" camps (towns) in Jordan too...not so posh. They need to be driven back into their respective homelands, not remain Israel's problem.

Israel needs to say this.

...islamist arabs who should rather be killed en masse in the warfare they seek

Yup...or that.

There is no such thing as a “Palestinian Refugee”. The very idea is ridiculous. Israel needs to halt the use of the term in any and all discussions.

The “palestinian state” already exists. It’s called Jordan.

The Palestinians are only one of the perpetual barriers to peace.

It is Israel's perpetual disobedience, partial blindness and turning to the secular world for guidance instead of the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob that is also a perpetual problem.

Instead why don't you turn and talk to your Lord and search His Word That He gave especially for you first. It is He to whom you are to look to for truth, help, for rest from their enemies.

Jos 21:44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.

Would you like to be able to build your temple on the temple mount without fear from your enemy neighbors?

Forget about negotiating with people who lie to you with every breath.

Turn to and talk to your Almighty God He will make it come to pass as He did twice before.

First time with Solomon: 1Ch 22:9 Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.

1Ch 22:10 He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.

On the second Temple[Zerubbabel's] after the captivity Darius made a decree that broke a nineteen year hold on it's building by the surrounding enemies of Israel.

Ezr 6:7 Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.

Ezr 6:8 Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.

Ezr 6:9 And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:

Ezr 6:10 That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.

Ezr 6:11 Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

Ezr 6:12 And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.

This reinforced The previous decree made by Cyrus the king the raised up and even named him in the prophecy that for told his taking of Babylon almost one hundred-fifty years in advance. Isa:44:28- 45:6.

Israel's Islamic kin enemies will be broken for their sin of perpetual hatred of Israel and for trying to take the land that the Lord has chosen for Himself to put His name in out of the whole earth.,p. This will be what expositors call the War of Gog and Magog.

Making possible for the next but not the last temple or tabernacle to be built is one of the main reasons but certainly not the only main one for this war. There are several others.

Also this war is before and separate from Great Tribulation.

It does not affect the timing of the Rapture which can occur at anytime before the revealing of the Antichrist. I could go own but I already have .

My apologies. I hope I may have help clear up some things especially about the Book of Ezekiel which no expositors have given anything new in the last fifty years or so and this is the book for right now this is where we are at not at tribulation.
