Tim Scott officially declines to join Congressional Black Caucus
The Daily Caller ^ | 12/02/2010 | Chris Moody

South Carolina Rep.-elect Tim Scott, the first black Republican from the South since Reconstruction, said Wednesday that he will not join the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC).

“While I recognize the efforts of the CBC and appreciate their invitation for me to caucus with them, I will not be joining at this time,” Scott said. “My campaign was never about race.”

Members of the CBC said before the election that Scott, along with Florida Republican Rep.-elect Allen West, would both be welcomed into the caucus if they wanted to join. West has said he intends to become a member next year.

Scott and West are the first black Republican House members since J.C. Watts, who retired seven years ago and infamously decided not to join the CBC during his tenure.

As the only Republican in the caucus, West said last month that he intends to bring a “different voice” to what he called a “monolithic viewpoint” within the CBC.

Good for him....I hope he can maintain his objectivity....but DC has a tendency to warp our lawmakers,
and the racebaiters are the worst.

How does this make sense? Allen West just got elected in Florida. If anything, aren't they both first?

Wonder where one can join the Congressional White Caucus? Representative Scott is right on but . . . it will be fun to watch what happens with Col. West and the CBC.

These two guys are just the BEST.

My campaign was not about race.

Good for him! Love the decision of both Scott and West on this.

I would think that those who risked themselves protesting in the ‘60s, getting dog-bit, clubbed and shot at, get ticked off to now see blacks undoing their sacrifice by re-segregating themselves at every turn. “Black Mayors”, “Black Sheriffs”, “Black people who are left-handed” (surely they exit).

When Perot was running for president, A black friend was dumping all over him for saying “You people” in a speech to the NAACP. I told him, maybe it meant “You people [in the audience]”, as I have been called that at a political meeting. He got a deer-in-the-headlights look. In this case I think Perot was talking to them as a separate entity, and I brought that up saying that blacks can’t have it both ways - one minute whining about being singled out and the next minute setting themselves up as a single entity.

The Congressional Black Caucus is indeed, racist in character, demeanor and activities..
AND NOT loyal to the Constitution.. making a Cartoon of any Unity..

And what makes matters worst is who is President. BLACK. Look what this Administration is giving the black farmers, anyone for reparations? I have many black friends and think of them as my best friends. But some are just as corrupt as their white counterpart. When CBC organized within the Government nothing good will come out of it. I thought we were Americans.

“My campaign was never about race.”

Thank God!! Maybe this will start the ball rolling to weaken the race card. For Republicans, it’s never about race. For dems, maintaining the slave mentality is what keeps them alive, so it’s always about race.

Perhaps he could join the

“doesn’t matter what your skin color is” caucus.

Allen West is joining the CBC to expose their hypocrisy.
