They should be treated like any other fired employee: after losing an election, they’re escorted by security to their office and given fifteen minutes to pack their belongings in a box. Instead we give them two months to loot the treasury before walking out with the silver.

actually, since there is a lame duck period, they are still on the job and the opposit could be claimed.

Instead of a transition, they could demand to stay in their offices and the incoming newbies would be forced to transition during Christmas break.

We want smooth transitions. One way would be to eliminate the lame duck session as an anachronism. After elections, transition time is a break and then a short session with new class and then Christmas.

This is one change to our democratic system that I could support.

Hold the election and then give the losers two weeks to clear out of their offices. No more lame duck sessions. The new congress would then start at the end of these two weeks.

This lameduck session is not conducting the people’s business. It is still pushing the agenda that was repudiated by the American electorate last month. As it is, it will take years to undo the damage that has been done by this congress.
