China would gain an immense amount of diplomatic and political credibility if they would shut down the Norks for good. If they played it right, they would be the good guys for getting rid of the idiots running the north, then stick the south with the bills for rebuilding the former DPRK.

“I was under the impression they kept those longer range SAM sites further back.”

Makes me wonder if that 26 year old kid of Kim’s that was just made a four star General is playing war with live ammo.

I don’t think his bubble is centered on the level.

Conservative "Independent Co.Kr" is making fun of MBC Radio/TV for being too appeasing and weak on the North Koreans even in the midst of this attack on the South and run up to possible all out peninsular war. Beats me how "Jinro" got mixed up with it:

There is plenty of time left for both. I’m not happy with having to make that observation, but there it is.

North Korea really wouldn’t get hurt bad by ROK’s firing into NK, nothing but rice paddies, but, Seoul being so close to the border would sustain massive destruction and loss of life....

If North Korea does not attack now, while Obama is President, then we really never have to fear them at all, ever.

Add the fact that North Korea has nukes, while South Korea does not. Millions of starving North Koreans. Lots of food just across the border. New North Korean prince who has some spurs to earn. And the early intel the SK's got on the artillery attack that occurred last week, was that the NK were going to shell all 5 disputed islands. Don't think you need to be a rocket scientist to see where this one is headed.

Hey,,,

From what I’ve found these are 122mm and 240mm,,,

The last I read Seoul is about 25 miles from the DMZ,,,

Neither one will reach,,,

What they will do is breach the DMZ and forces south,,,

One report said NK could keep up a 10,000 rpm rate of fire

for a day or so,,,

Watch for iron on the move...

Here is a recent graphic of the Norkie attack on the island last week. How they carried it off:

F-22 Raptors would kick the crap out of some critical places in the DPRK. Not to mention some other things, airborne, ground and sea based. The rice paddies down in the DMZ north of the MDL would not be the main objective. After eliminating the artillery tubes and tank commands just north of the DMZ, simultaneously Pyongyang would be strategically leveled, and further the Kim's, fleeing, would be smoked to a crisp.

These people are marked people with limited days, and their every move is tracked. Even if underground, WHAMMO!!! they are going to get it with some hitherto unveiled US play-purdies.

TANKS for the info,,,

These are the same type of guns dug in north of Seoul

as well as a large rocket force,,,

That gun on tracks is a 170mm,,,(long range),,,

Those and the wheel guns are all dug in those mountains

just north of the DMZ,,,

Keep in mind NK has the largest Arty Force on earth,,,

70%+ is close to the DMZ,,,

Something to watch...

This new defense minister is talking the right talk alright. Sounds like the right man for the job.

But it’s still the usual “next time...” mantra.

Looks like another ‘delay’ on the live firing exercise that was due to start in a few days, and this isn’t even the other exercise on the island that was hit by NK which has also been delayed....A familiar pattern...

SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Yonhap) — South Korea’s defense ministry said Friday it will delay its decision on the date for live-fire artillery drills planned in waters off a western border island bombed by North Korea until after the inauguration of the new defense minister.

While I’d love nothing more for our commanders to assure NK that if they do anything stupid we will come at them and come at them hard, it won’t happen. This administration would be dead set against showing force. I’m not even sure I believe they would retaliate if our own country was attacked by NK.

At least they aren’t talking to the DPRK, yet. Doesn’t sound like the delay is going to be all that long. Maybe they want to make sure the new Def. Min. has a reign on things before the drills, just in case things go screwy.

The drills were set to begin next week but now “end of the year at the latest” per MND official speaking to reporters.

The NORKS are bluffing. They’ve got nothing to gain and everything to lose.

The Kim family needs a subsidy and nobody’s paying. It’s blackmail, pure and simple.

I remember my old border Cavalry Squadron Commander saying “If a war breaks out here in Germany, it is going to start accidently here on the border between two guys who do something dumb or accidental and it esclates rapidly, NOT from a decision in Moscow or Washington to go to war.” That is what I fear is happening right now in Korea.
