The way this survey is being covered by the press is criminal. Another Freeper pointed out that only 28% of the service members given a survey actually filled it out. I checked it out, and sure enough that was the case, with a far higher percentage of Air Force and Coast Guard responders than Army or Marines.
Yet, the survey responses are being portrayed as though everyone took the survey, not just over 1/4 of those selected. So, who would take the survey—given the fact that each survey had an individual numeric identifier attached to the service-members' name?
So we send our servicmembers out to combat with one year gone for every one year home, and then they are told they can simply find another job. Absolutely. Let them go, but don't expect them to come back when you need them.
Mullen sounds like a no principled rank climbing kiss ass. He needs to be teaching something more important to his career calling, like basket weaving.
Why did so few return the survey? It is their well being that will be affected. What were they thinking?
