Yet the dems still support Rangel...makes my blood boil!
He’s right. That said the Republicans were in office for 5 years before he stepped down, with the Presidency, and they could have cleaned up the rules. Also, the pubbies were in office when he was forced to step down. If the Dems were doing it, why was the Republican only forced out? Doesn’t add up but I’m ignorant of the details now, can’t remember them, 5 years after the fact.

I think this information is worth repeating as well as being passed on to Rush and Sean, if anyone knows how.
Good story, except for this nonsense:
“Does being a registered Republican cause unforeseen problems in 21st-century America? Ask GM dealers across the country who lost their dealerships. Ask people whose banks have dropped or changed the terms of their loans for no apparent reason. The ranks of independent voters have burgeoned dramatically of late. Is there some stigma connected with being a Republican that makes being an independent that much more attractive?”
The “GM car dealership” targeting is a total myth, discredited on FOX News and other alternative media outlets long ago. Moreover, Chrysler announced the closings in February 2008, long before Barak Obama got into office.

Too bad I didn't see a subject category above for "defending Republican Party members unjustly prosecuted" or "Democrat Party malfeasance."
If you have any honor remaining, Sir, you will stand up before you leave the Senate in January and defend Tom DeLay. To quote Sybil West:
"He was extremely focused and effective in his efforts -- none of which benefited him personally but which benefited his party and his state immensely. His success has earned him the abandonment of his party's members. No one says a peep about him. He may as well have dropped off the face of the earth and into purgatory.
I have to wonder: Is this what party loyalty brings? If so, then why would anybody in his right mind want to make the effort for the Republican Party?"
The Republican Party has become an embarrassment to all good conservatives around this great nation. The overwhelming silence concerning the bogus prosecution and subsequent bankrupting of Mr. DeLay from well-established party members like yourself actually speaks volumes - you have become a party of cowards and unaccountable aristocrats.
Our founding fathers pledged their blood, honor, and treasure to the founding of these United States. But I guess now that's just a quaint old-fashioned notion better saved for the rhetoric of speeches to the masses instead of a principled moral stand.
Apparently none of our current leaders, including yourself, feel any of these personal costs are worth expending in defense of fellow party members; or party aside, in defense of a moral and upright man unjustly prosecuted for simply "being Republican".

Thank you for posting this. I love Tom Delay and what happened to him was a tragedy and a disgrace.
