The CRU at East Anglica conveniently “lost” the original data. The method used to process (”massage” or “fudge”) the data is both poorly documented and probably not invertable. (If I give you the average and standard deviation of a data set, for instance, you cannot recreate the data set.) It is hard to give their claims any credence, given the provenance of their data and lack of transparency about their methods.

CRU violated the first cardinal rule of good science: they lied to themselves. Losing or destroying the data, the evidence, is merely inexcusable.

I am not a big fan of Galileo’s but when he was challenged, he told his critics, “look for yourself”. CRU tells us, “you wouldn’t understand”, the hallmark of cargo cult science.

True. Whenever someone is going out of their way to hide the data or prevent one from even looking at it - you know something is up & that fraud is at work.
