Senate Republicans on Saturday voted against extending the Bush tax cuts to only the middle class in a pair of votes Democrats are seizing to paint the GOP as guardians of the rich.
The Senate voted 53-36 to extend all expiring tax cuts on individuals with incomes of less than $200,000 a year and married couples making less than $250,000 -- seven shy of the required 60 to advance.
The other proposal, which drew opposition from White House officials, would have renewed them for all tax filers with incomes of $1 million or less. That also failed in a 53-36 vote.

That was 53 votes in favor of limiting tax cuts. It didn't advance because they needed 60.
This why I didnt bother to vote last time. The republicans are not on our side either. Were all a bunch of fools for thinking either party have the interest of average folks in mind.

You are a gutless, pathetic, self absorbed POS!
You are part of the problem! “Boo Hoo...Boo Hooo...I’ll show them, I’ll have a little tantrum and not vote...that will show them!”
Wussies like you make me want to puke! You are a POS!
I am an employer. I've cut back dramatically in the non essential work we give to contractors because our revenue is in decline. They in turn have laid off crews. If my taxes go up I will be forced to cut back even more.
Is your employer in business to give you a job or to make himself a living?
I am in business to make money. I will rehab apartments because I can get a better tenant, quicker, who is willing to pay more money. I don't rehab properties because I'm a nice guy. Because rents are down and the quality of the tenants is down I've cut way back on what I do to fix the apartments.
If your employers costs go up, who will he fire first: You or Himself?
I have a wife and two sons to support. I'll be the last to go.
It can be done next year and made retroactive.
An unemployment extension is needed or you will have millions with zero spending power....
The only reason to extend the benefits is out of common decency and not wanting people to suffer. There is no real economic benefit to having people sitting around doing nothing.
If we really wanted to fix the problem we would require these people to be at jobs centers from 9-5 monday-Friday.
Yes, and that is why they are so desperately trying to pass a tax increase for the upper middle class during the lame duck session.
The wealthy are all evil? Good grief! The poor aren’t necessarily evil either.
I think your use of the word evil was a mistake.

Senate Republicans thwart democRATs' latest attempt at class warfare".
How long have you been attempting to be a useful idiot for the left?
I think you have finally succeeded. I annoint you MOONBAT.
There is no way the cuts will be extended for all filers, and that’s even if the GOP controlled the Senate.
However, 250k is way too low and a recovery killer.
At minimum, it should be 750k....and honestly preferably at least a million.
Ideally, it should be for every American, but there is just no way to pass that, period.

I’ve had FOX news on double-secret probation since the Germans attacked Pearl Harbor. :)

another cart load of ammo. Thank you! Excellent points, and so true. You are a Patriot. There is no idiocy in your post. Call me before you light the fire. Okay?
“Democrats are seizing to paint the GOP as guardians of the rich.”
Uh, NO, Dumb@sses! We’re guardians of those that have the capital to CREATE JOBS!
Freakin’ morons. Man, I loathe those LibTards! So clueless! And still allowed to live! And VOTE! Eeeek!! ;)
Every-time one of the liberals vote (usually more than once) a shot is fired at America and Lady Liberty. I vote too, so I fire my shot back at the liberals. I love information. My ammo is information. I humbly Thank All for the information.
What country are they keeping afloat and employed? China? India? Mexico?
You must be a huge fan of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barack Obama and the other liberals who pushed this anti-taxpayer bill. When President Bush and the GOP Congress cut taxes for all Americans, they had to use the budget process to avoid a Senate filibuster, and thus the lower rates had to expire on January 1, 2011 (because budget rules don’t allow changes tbat affect more than 10 fiscal years or something like that). Tax rates will go up for *everyone* on January 1 unless Congress acts, and the Democrats blocked every attempt at making the lower rates permanent back when Republicans controlled Congress and haven’t done squat since they took over, because the moonbats in the party would all switch to the Greens if the Democrats didn’t allow taxes to go up on “rich people” (you know, the people who employ a huge chunk of the population). So now, at the eleventh hour, the Democrats want to make the current tax rates “permanent” for lower income brackets but to raise taxes on the upper income brackets, the latter of which will make unemployment go up even more.
The Republicans are being responsible and smart to insist that either all the tax rates are made permanent (our first choice) or all are extended for a couple of years (our second choice; it would have the issue come up again in 2012, which would certainly benefit us in the election). If they allow only certain tax rates to be made permanent, the other tax rates will go up on January 1 and it would be impossible to bring them down again (at least while Obama is president). Don’t fall for Democrat demagoguery—if we don’t all hang together, surely we will all hang separately.
F=(O) When F=Failure and O=Obama
The Crats have abandoned the poor and are now ‘helping’ the middle class....to be poor.
I believe most jobs are created by small businesses and most small business owners are not rich enough to get hit by the tax increase voted down.
