They might end up destacking and using a new External Tank.

Well, at least it's easy to see now why the STS program is at its end. And it certainly didn't help that the workers put together the last tank and got fired the next day. The morale at the plant was probably not that great.
At this point the best possible outcome is that the vehicle successfully performs its last mission, no matter when. As we can see, the STS is simply too old now to be operated on any rigid schedule.
It may be even cheaper and safer to cancel the mission altogether and lift the materials to the ISS on expendable rockets. It's probably not good for the Shuttle to sit on the launchpad for months, during most of the winter. If something is not broken yet then by February it will be.

Yet another segment of American exceptionalism that Hussein rides shotgun over for the Decline portion of the experience.
Infidels don't need to be going into space while the Umma starve in their own waste.
Time to redistribute the wealth of the infidels, and search them as they fly to and fro.
Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

No need to worry about safety, Allah will provide.
Pack the shuttle full of muslims and blast it into a outreach mission to the sun.
