There needs to be a Big Sign on the Religious forum here in Free Republic that says ‘We are Prudes and can’t handle purposefully misspelled foul language on the Internet.’ I didn’t even spell the words right and ‘asterixed’ a vowel and substituted ‘ph’ for ‘f’ and ‘zz’ for ‘ss’ and a moderator took this earlier thread down instead of just deleting my comment. Sheesh.

Yeah, they can do whatever they want, it’s their site, I guess, but I think they’ve carried that a little too far. Not my site, though. Do what you will. I’m free to think of that what I want, though and lately I haven’t been around much because of stuff like this.

Should I donate? Well?

There have been many FReepers for whom using foul language was so important that they chose to frequent other sites. Whatever floats your boat.

I agree and I thought that the prudish pruning of comments on that thread was really very ... over the top. It is a religious topic, but not a pious topic. A few exclamations were in order, I thought. But maybe I am at fault because I posted it and was responding.

Profanity is a sure sign of a poor vocabulary.

Exactly what is the purpose of misspelling vulgar words? Simply to escape auto filters. Arguing that you aren't “really” saying something vulgar because you misspelled it, is the argument of a child.

If you don’t like the rules, go somewhere else. There are plenty of forums that allow that silly behavior.

Might not be the moderator. Certain ‘’auto-censor’’ type programs kick in on certain letter combinations like a double ‘’s’’ or something. I once tried to use the term ‘’intellectual Fagin’’ on a web-site to describe Ward Churchill and it kept getting scrubbed because of the ‘f’ ‘’a’ ‘’g’’ spelling , well, I think it’s obvious. Just saying...

When in Rome ...

When I find a thread in the reliigon forum(s), I tread carefully because that’s a fairly specific place, so I respect it. I regard the general forums very differently, like being out on the street.

Just like I don’t swear in church or temple.
And that’s a fair deal.
