Barring a steep drop in crude prices, U.S. motorists can expect to see gas prices exceeding $3 per gallon, if they are not seeing such prices already, according to a new survey of filling stations.

The latest Lundberg Survey of cities in the continental United States was conducted Friday. It showed the national average price for a gallon of self-serve unleaded gasoline at $2.91, an increase of 3.9 cents from the last survey two weeks earlier, survey publisher Trilby Lundberg said.

Obama's strategy of stopping drilling in the gulf and mandating usage of uneconomic ethanol in order to raise gas prices is paying off for him.

Everyone should be happy we have such a sensitive and shrewd person in the office of POTUS.

PA about the same prices...Joisey is Joisey and they have the refineries there and it was still in the ‘$2.80 something’ range there last week when I rode on I 80.

the election is over and all bets are off for anything good for the next 2 years....its agenda time for the Marxist POSOTUS.

I paid 3.15 for regular today.

The Kenyan is pushing America deeper into recession with his anti oil agenda. This is a repeat of the Pelosi freeze in 2007 that got us into the recession in the first place.

Not to forget to mention QE2 inflating the dollar.

When Bush was president gas prices used to climb every time there was a hurricane forecast

Now look at what has happened in the past 2 years????

“Someone” has been artifically covering bambi’s butt for a long time. That plus the world depression.

Now that the GOP is back in Congress, watch for the puppet-master’s gloves to come off in efforts to crash our economy again and blame Boehner and company

Chinese economic growth and appetite for energy, and the weakening US dollar will also have an inevitable outcome

I just noticed gas around me ranges anywhere from $3 to $3.20 per gallon. And it seems like the price shot up pretty quickly. This could just be inflation due to the Fed printing money too, which we all know is coming.

The items you mentioned are certainly factors in this, but let's be brutally honest here. Over the last 40 years (if not longer), the single biggest factor in U.S. oil prices has been the value of the U.S. dollar relative to other major currencies.

With U.S. interest rates at or near historic lows, massive Federal budget deficits as far as the eye can see into the future, and Ben Bernanke already talking about a possible third round of Federal Reserve purchases of U.S. Treasury debt, I think it's a safe bet that the U.S. dollar isn't going to stop sliding into the toilet anytime soon.
