Parents outraged over finance class reading (NH Conservative Parents Push Back, Liberal Freak Out)
The Union Leader ^ | 12/6/2010 | GREG KWASNIK

BEDFORD – The parents of a Bedford teen are calling for the ouster of school officials who assigned their son a book that refers to Jesus Christ as a "wine-guzzling vagrant and precocious socialist."

"We had almost PhD people letting this fumble through their fingers, and they all said it was grand," said Dennis Taylor, a conservative Christian. "I think there should be a review of these individuals and perhaps some firing done."

We need re-educaiton camps for Commies and Barbara can be the first “voluntary guest.” Get them out of our hair and away from us so they can do no harm. Everywhere they rear their heads, they want to impose tyranny or everyone else. We have got to find ways to fight fire with fire or we lose all our freedoms. Obviously they don’t give a damn about our freedoms. We are at war with people in our own country. I’d like to start by cleaning out the universities, where all this rot begins and is spread to new generations. Ban Marxists and Commies from teaching! Throw out the Marxists and Commies already there!

The facts as interesting as they may be have no relevance to this situation.....

More and more I’m feeling there is only one solution to this conflict.

Compared to the vision of what this country was supposed to be there will be no real winners. However, we are dying a death by a thousand cuts and a decisive action would be more humane for all parties concerned.

Well put. It's hard to describe these things without getting suspended or banned...

Saw the story this morning. My wife and I are constantly on the lookout for such nonsense in the Bedford schools, and now even my daughter (who is in 9th grade) has become adept at spotting liberal/socialist/collectivist propaganda. We've always made sure she's had alternative (libertarian and conservative) points of view to consider, as against the effluence that often oozes from the educational monolith.

In this event, as soon as I saw the name "Ehrenreich" I knew what was up. She's an old Movement communist from way back; a radical feminist, a fourth-generation atheist, and honorary chairwoman of the Democratic Socialists of America. Or, as Keith Olbermann would say: she's a "moderate".

"Nickel and Dimed" is a first-person account of author Barbara Ehrenreich's failed attempts to make a living at various minimum wage jobs across the country. Written in response to 1996 welfare reform, the book offers a serious critique of the current economic system, which Ehrenreich argues preys on the poor.

An obvious Cloward-Piven apostle. Scratch deeply enough, and there will be a Soros laundered financial contribution which made the book possible at all. Clearly, it has zero academic benefit.

The poor can no more be "preyed upon" than the government can "pay" for a tax cut.

The best action that working taxpayers can take to "help the poor" has always been not to become one of them.

Only in the insane world of political activism can "preying" be defined as preventing idle predators from stealing more.
Or defining resisting "paying" as insisting that elected (lying) criminals take less of people's hard-earned money, at the point of many guns.

I was talking to my State Rep and I asked her why all of the schools in our district were on the fail list.

I then started to herd my Grandkiddies a couple of days a week so that they can survive the Obamma economy. It seems that My Grand Daughter is one of the few has to do home work, review spelling, and read a book every day, upon penalty of my sons wrath, awesome to watch. Fear and Loathing in a kid is good along with love and praise when they achieve.

I live in NH.

After reading the comments, all I can say is, NH is gone.

The minimum was was NEVER meant to provide a "living wage". It is a STARTING POINT for unskilled, inexperienced workers. Anyone who stays at this level for an extended period of time is usually, a) young and at a transient point in their life, b) satisfied with minimum wage and wants nothing more, c) has some serious social/personal/legal problems and cannot find a better job.

Why not?

My Grandfather used to say that a persons real education is at home. If you can install real values and point out the crap, a big gold star for the forehead if they can recognize what you have taught them is true.

You obviously don't get involved in politics allot. There is an underground and it is alive, strong, and working.

I think that's exactly right. The quality of American education started to decline the moment we forgot that the primary responsibility for educating our kids lies with their parents and only then with school teachers. As a matter of fact, a whole lot of other things started to slip when we abdicated personal responsibility in favor of government care and security...

Yep, the old NH is gone in many ways as are many items and such we took for granted when younger. The commies and alinski types have won in many ways as this article points out.

I am awaiting my status from NZ Immigration. I want to have a choice to leave on my terms. When the wheels come off here it will not be pretty.

I have made war on the basic most savage levels, I just could not fathom doing it here in the US with my family so near. I am choosing to leave if it gets any worse.
