Seriously, how can you begin to negotiate any kind of lasting peace with a culture that buys into this kind of ridiculousness? And, Egypt is regarded as one of the more moderate Muslim states.

Certainly seems a plausible explanation to me. Israel ordered shark to bite the arm off of a German lady tourist.
Reminds me of 1968 when my father and I visited the Dead Sea in Israel. As our bus unloaded at the Dead Sea an ambulance was being loaded with the body of an ancient German tourist lady in swimsuit, (heart attack or such.)
She had been taking a bath in the salty water of the Dead Sea.
