The work of a farm girl is never done!

Chickens are such nasty creatures. We’ve got quail and a few pigeons, and just have to turn a heat lamp on in their coop when it gets cold. Would hate the thought of torturing the other animals with their smell. ;)

Do you use your mini-cow for milk? If so, how much do you get per day? I’ve been entertaining the idea (and trying to talk my husband in to) getting a mini-cow, but we basically live on a big sand hill and have my doubts that the quality of grass production could sustain even one cow on the 5 acres we have.

Yes, I do. I have a mini jersey.

She will give about 3 1/2 gallons a day at her peak, but she is down to about 1 1/2 now. I need to get her pregnant again. However, the mini bull I was using down the street died, so I either need to find a bull locally, buy sperm, or buy a bull(my last choice)

They are real easy keepers, and very sweet. She is mainly on pasture, but I do give her a little hay and grain.
