My great grandfather's family on my dad's side emigrated from Holland to the US in 1863 (seeking cheap farmland in Iowa). From what I have been able to ascertain, although nominally Dutch Reformed (after they arrived), they were probably full-blooded Jews. We still have family there.
Having a history as an enclave of religious refugees from Germany, Holland was long a place that welcomed the oppressed (to varying degrees). Amsterdam once had a thriving Jewish enclave.
It is a tragic irony that their history has betrayed them. Islam is different; Muslims should never have been allowed to immigrate.
Well, Holland didn't exactly cover itself with glory during the years of the Third Reich. No reason to expect them suddenly to rise to the occasion now.
