Two years ago, when Chris Christie announced he was running for governor, he dismissed questions about his days as the Godzilla freeholder when he breathed fire on almost every issue, insulted Morris County colleagues and needlessly stomped on countless toes. Tossed out after one term, Christie assured us he had learned his lesson. He was a different man.
Who wouldnt be? he said. If youre not a different person 12 years later than when I began my last political campaign, youve got problems. He added: Im more mature.
Nearly a year after he was elected, we wonder: Wheres the maturity?
The latest display of contempt for anyone who disagrees with him was on display at town hall meeting Friday in Parsippany.
Keith Chaudruc, of Madison, asked the governor how he could sign off on a tax cut for the rich while lunch-pail stiffs were hit with painful increases like transit fare hikes. After some give and take, Christie invited Chaudruc to the stage for a conversation.
Chaudruc, reluctant to be part of another Christie YouTube moment, was escorted to the stage by state trooper. Chaudruc never got another word in. Twice Chaudrucs size, Christie crowded his personal space, raised his voice and lectured him on economics with wagging finger. Each time Chaudruc tried to make a point, Christie cut him off.
When Christie finished, Chaudruc motioned for the microphone. This was, after all, a conversation. Christie shooed him away and a trooper herded Chaudruc off stage.
The clip appears on YouTube under the title Christie rips apart rude questioner, a headline written, no doubt, by a Christie disciple.
By bullying a citizen, hogging the microphone and condescendingly dismissing him, Christie was the rude one. But its nothing new.
Christie has turned state politics into one never-ending yo mama joke.

Liberals think honest talk is being condescending. This from the people who dismiss any kind of criticism.
Funny, his act isn’t “old” for me. Christie would have to be dead for a decade before his brain deteriorated to Obama levels.
Whats up with the state trooper thing?
Not old for me either; I hope he spends the rest of his term representing the taxpayers of NJ as he has so far.
The Star Ledger’s act is getting old ..... and it’s projecting!
Being nice won't cut it.
Sucking up to the press won't cut it.
Giving up 50% of our principles won't cut it.
Adopting 50% of the socialist agenda won't cut it.
If the country can be rescued, politicians on our side must do their job in a way which will ensure that they are hated.
Can’t wait for his Vid fighting back to the Red Star thugs!
Christie is wrong on some things but he is good with messing with leftist heads. lol
As a NJ resident for 19 years, I continue to lump the Star Ledger in the same category as the NY Slimes. Something to wrap fish with abut useless otherwise. Both are way far left and dangerous. They can’t get out of their own way and both will soon be history given their contempt for their readers.
Governor Christie has been the most effective governor in the state since I have been here and maybe in history. He has taken on the problems with fiscal responsibility in the state head on and isn’t bullied by the whining lib dems who run the media, the education system, the unions, the state legislature and far too much of the state. Thank God for Governor Christie and his strength against all the opposition which his predecessors have mostly folded against. He has a lot of work ahead and I’m sure isn’t swayed by losers at the Star Ledger.
Chris Christie is doing what a lot of state governors should be doing, but will not, due to fear of ‘public service’ unions and some of their more vocal constituents or their own leftist ideology that refuses to acknowledge the limits of taxpayer patience and ability to pay the freight for endlessly expanding government. To do what Chris Christie does you have to be tough and not shrink from confrontation from your opponents. Governor Christie does that and the leftmedia hate him for it. Too bad.
When the New Jersey Star Liar is unhappy, I am thrilled.
Yeah Christie, sit down and shut up. Same goes with Palin, how dare you question the established order. /s
I think 2012 is going to be another dem bloodbath. Lovin’ it.
Heh heh. He is really, REALLY getting to them.
I will judge Christie by his actions, not words, and as of now, they are pathetic.
He needs to pardon Brian Aitken immediately!
Waaaahhhh, waaaaaahhhhh. He won’t give in to special interest groups. Waaaah. He doesn’t sit there and listen to mindless drivel coming from big government advocates. Waaah. He confronts voters about the unsustainability of their desires for ever-bigger government.
Every argument they make in that editorial makes me want him as president even more. We need a bully to “Punch” (in his words) the government advocates in DC.
Hard to tell what’s going on in the video clip. The website publishing this story cut off the first part of the video to shape their hysterical article. Who’s bullying who. Christie just seems to be making a coherent point. Lefty journalists get bent out of shape if a Republican politician doesn’t submit to mau-mauing by lefty crackpots. Someone needs to tell the Star Ledger that the 60’s ended quite awhile ago. Maybe they should get out the bong and chill out.
I will judge Christie by his actions, not words, and as of now, they are pathetic.

It is a travesty that Brian Aitken has not been pardoned.
