"what you gonna do when your measly 500 rounds run out?"
"what you gonna do when you break a firing pin?"

Well...after expending 500 rounds and breaking a firing pin, assuming I'm still alive, there should be plenty of replacement weapons and ammo available for "pickup".

You would have to be lucky indeed to get to one of these guns before another one of the ten thousand people marauding you get to it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting anyone be defenseless. But defenses at best, even fairly heavy duty armament would work against single people who are trying to assault you, two or three at best.

If there is an organized group that are coming - let’s say 15 to 20 - they most likely would have some casualties but they WILL get you.
Think Road Warrior.

“Now I’ll got out on a limb and speculate that you have 10,000 rounds - what you gonna do when you break a firing pin?”

You remind me of the Argentina dude who lived through their economic meltdown. He tells people to leave the camo’s, rocket launchers, grenades, machine guns, etc. at home (after the meltdown). If you run out looking like Rambo (to get a quart of milk), you’ll be arrested and then institutionalized.

I agree with you.

We’re in the middle of a metal bubble. The stories are going to get better and better, each passing day. I see that Silver the other day broke into the parabolic up move that it experienced in 79. The next several months should be quite interesting. Silver, 40, 60, 100 before it implodes? The JPM silver story, another good bubble story. What goes straight up, eventually goes...straight down. Again, this is going to be a heck of a story/ride...

“Is it going to be something we think about, we have a public debate, hearing in Congress … we give some thought to, and then, over time … we do it in stages” so that markets can adjust.

Like when the Federal Reserve lent $3.3 trillion of brand spankin new munny to the Europeans without so much as a village board vote? This guy should not hold his breath... and, while I'm ranting... why was he so stupid as to put his physical gold in a chartered bank who will ALWAYS capitulate to the government who charters it? Duh...

Put nothing in a safe deposit box either...

I can get anything I need out of any safe deposit box in the USA merely by seeking a subpoena... No bank will risk its state or Federal charter to protect a mere peasant...

Under your mattress or in your mattress? There are two different schools on this.

Not possible, zinc is much less dense than gold. You are probably thinking of tungsten.

You are 100% correct. My bad.

"IMHO, the whole “invest in brass and lead” thingy is silly. Just plain silly.

We live in a silly world, FRiend. Crazy things happen, and it behooves us to prepare for those crazy things.

"I’m not sure what part of the world you live in, but where I live, there are probably 3.5 million people within 40 miles of me."

That is sad for you, but your poor decision on where to reside is not my problem.

"what you gonna do when you break a firing pin?"

My master plan includes having an extra firing pin on hand. problem solved.

It is one reason that any precious metals I own are actually in my hot little hands.

Ditto.

But you and I had better be willing to defend our ownership of metals as well as our guns.

When I pointed out to a lib I know that Roosevelt confiscated gold and silver (well, the government did pay, but the private citizen had no recourse about the "selling" or the price), she haughtily replied that couldn't happen again, because we (the government?) have learned a lot since then.

I am under the impression that FDR only confiscated gold.

Also, if they do it again, I’ll simply shrink wrap and bury the stuff.

Google/Bing Executive Order 6814. FDR went after holders of 50,000 0z of silver or holders of 2 or more futures contracts. Called them silver hoarders.

Correction, people with over 500 ounces of silver. The initial proposal was for 50,000 and over.

Be aware that part of the "healthcare" bill includes tracking of bullion purchases. And that is going to get worse as the precious metals prices climb.

If they get to the point of confiscating silver, they will know what has been purchased. Gonna get ugly.

"I’m not sure what part of the world you live in, but where I live, there are probably 3.5 million people within 40 miles of me."

All the more reason to prepare. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. There going to be a lot of hungry defenseless liberals out there crying for help. And none of them are going to get refuge in my house because I have the means of keeping them out. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

I intend to keep eating and shooting. So more food and more ammo is a win win move.

Well, since there is no record of the purchase of a single oz oz of silver I own, I guess I’m not a hoarder. :)

>>If they get to the point of confiscating silver, they will know what has been purchased. <<

Not in my case.

I agree that if it got to that point it would get ugly, though.

I once told a friend back in the early seventies that if it got so bad that you couldn’t trust the government to make good on your savings bonds, that would be the least of your problems. Same thing here.
