The artillary barage and the Cheonan sinking appear linked to the upcoming leadership change. One has to wonder what will happen if the top NK leaders suddenly realize they are going to be completely overthrown.

Do they then start a full blown war as a desperate bid to stay in power?

Well yes, in part....but the food shortage is hitting the military and elites there as well this time. Can't imagine how bad the countryside people are doing. We know International Help is afraid they are heading into various stages of hunger as there were in the 90’s, when so many died from starvation...if not already there. Reports from defectors say people are dying once again. So Kim will do what he has to to get the food flowing as more and more of the people there are starting to believe Kim is not all he has been cracked up to be.

The whole country is at a tipping point..IMO...and more than just the usual badgering Kim does. I think the International community has had it with the whole affair there and are not willing to see the people starve nor another 50 60 years with Kim-bos son as dictator.

My opinion is the country and leadership are so weakened that a covert operation may likely come into play...with nations military standing by if needed. Time will tell but I don't think this is going to continue...likely Kim-bo is dying.

Could be. Desperation will make people do stupid things.
