For New York, Teachers Still in Idle Limbo (Triple Bag Barf Alert)
NY Times ^ | 7 Dec 10 | SHARON OTTERMAN

Posted on 12/08/2010 3:41:08 AM PST by SkyPilot

For her first assignment of the school year, Verona Gill, a $100,000-a-year special education teacher whom the city is trying to fire, sat around education offices in Lower Manhattan for two weeks, waiting to be told what to do.

Verona Gill was suspended from teaching.

For her second assignment, she was sent to a district office in the Bronx and told to hand out language exams to anyone who came to pick them up. Few did.

Now, Ms. Gill reports to a cubicle in Downtown Brooklyn with a broken computer and waits for it to be fixed. Periodically, her supervisor comes by to tell her she is still working on the problem. It has been this way since Oct. 8.

“I have no projects to do, so I sit there until 2:50 p.m. — that’s six hours and 50 minutes,” the official length of the teacher workday, she said. “And then I swipe out.”

From what planet are the NY Slimes writers from? Do they really think these "tear jerker" generated propaganda pieces elicit any sympathy?

The article goes on an on. $30 million in taxpayer money paid to teachers last year who should have been fired on the spot. More examples of $100K a year Obama voters, some accused of sexual misconduct.

Beam me up.

Given the results of our education union, it appears that simply laying off 95% of our “teachers” will result in an undetectable change in the quality of the students.

Were I to still have children in of school age, they would NEVER be allowed within sight of a unionized teacher.

She looks like Charlie Rangel’s sister....and they are both playing the U.S. taxpayers for suckers. Teachers unions ought to be outlawed for allowing theft like this from the public treasury.

From the looks of it, we have a real “winner” here. Disgusting.

Knowing how Teachers' Unions + New York operate; she probably "teaches" Ebonic's as a Second Language.

$100K Teachers, who never get fired for ineffectiveness or lack of skills, similar to the typical Union Seniority systems everywhere in the taxpayer-funded domain, where retirements in 6 figures, with un-limited medical coverage, and COLA-for-life increases are not un-common.

The State-Run-Media, of course, cries about these "necessary" job-holders, who basically do nothing but corrupt impressionable youth with the Socialist indoctrination, don't teach the 3 R's, and allow rampant truancy, lack of discipline, and explain how to work the System to the students. Is it any wonder we have 4th Generation Welfare "families"??????

In NYC it will. It’s a different place. They are stuck on “left”.

Leave it to the NY Times to sympathize with cowardly selfish frauds while totally ignoring the existence of NY’s children as though they are mere chattel for the teacher.

The evidence for left wing evil and corruption seems endless. Not one good thing about them...ever.

If terrorists attack NYC again, I will not shed a single tear. These heavily infected leftist states need to be vaporized in atomic wind. Most of inhabitants are worthless and the rest better get the hell out now.
