I recall saying it was an awful big coincidence this nut bar checks out was they go looking to question him in this case...

Fact is, the Beverly Hills PD has kept a pretty tight lid on this for good reasons.

ER....I recall saying it was an awful big coincidence this nut bar checks out AS they were looking to question him in this case...

Clearly the nut bar that shot himself was involved in one way or another.

So the man who committed suicide was a hired hitman?

Not necessarily...

But you can bet the rent, the dead guy who shot himself was involved one way or another.

Thanks. It’s a very interesting case, and I look forward to it being solved. It’s gonna be a movie too, yuck.

Again, don't believe everything you see on tv. "Hitmen" are usually tweakers looking for their next fix. The suave, debonair, master-of-disguise and kung-fu ninjas only live in the minds of Hollywood screenwriters. Most murders for higher are done for a few thousand dollars, which makes it even more pathetic, I suppose.

Very true, with the possible exception of certain contract murders of the very wealthy, famous and or well known mobsters, that were killed by professional killers.

My hunch in this case is Mr. Smith was involved, as someone who loaned the gun to a former prison associate, or was given the gun by an acquaintance after the victim was murdered...

Something led the investigators to Smith...That information seems to have been very credible, indicating they're on the right track.

The BH PD just blew it I think...

They just asked officer giving the new press conference, and he repeatedly said the gun preliminary matched Smith's weapon and said the investigation was on going...

Then when asked of he believed Smith was the killer, he stated, "We believe, "Smith Acted alone"...When asked again if they believed Smith was the killer, he basically said, no more comments".

"Something led the investigators to Smith..."

I read someplace - can't remember where - that a tip actually came into America's Most Wanted. I have not seen it reported anywhere else, so it might be BS.

And I agree with your comments about the wealthy and the mob (excluding government-sanctioned hits, of course).

Yeah, the most wanted show tipped them off, and they’re not revealing who that was....

At this point, I’d bet the rent Smith is the killer...Did it on a bicycle in the middle of the night, random robbery attempt.....

Presser just ended in Beverly Hills.

Cops say Smith shot Ronni Chasen in a “random act of violence” while riding a bicycle through the city...

"id it on a bicycle in the middle of the night, random robbery attempt....."

Thanks for the update. What a shame. Innocent woman just minding her own business in arguably the wealthiest neighborhood in America, gets gunned down by a two bit punk. I'm not sure what's more sad - the fact it happened, or the fact I'm not entirely shocked.

A TH commented yesterday on her brother's strange behavior at the funeral and his insistence that it was road rage and that the deceased gunman was not involved, which were odd. Also, she apparently had been married but TSs strangely avoided the topic.

Why would anybody kill a 60-year-old publicist? Somebody suggested people in her will or a former spouse/boyfriend.

The BHPD news conference was a farce...They blew it...

They were only supposed to reveal Smith's weapon matched the murder weapon, but actually were baited and went on to say, "We believe Smith acted alone, and it was a random robbery attempt while Smith was riding his bicycle"

The Beverly Hills lightweights then said, "your all here only because preliminarily, we believe the gun Smith killed himself with, matched the weapon that killed Ronni Chasen and that is all."

lol

Appears no hitman was involved....I tend to agree...

The pertinent questions are:

Where is the drive-by SUV, was it the gunman's, if not, who provided it?

I believe what BH said...Random attempted robbery attempt...That was my hunch initially...Then we all heard the discussion about a "Hitman"... I wasn't sure and was waiting to hear about threats, debts and enemies...That never really surfaced....

When Smith shot himself, I was convinced he was the suspect...I'm now more convinced than ever Smith was the bad guy here.

Doesn’t anyone think it strange that a guy on a bicycle would shoot a woman 5 times in order to rob her?

She is in the car, he is on a bike. At that point he knows not whether she even has any money and she is not fighting him off.

The most she could do is hit the gas.

A guy on a bike is more than likely to pick out a pedestrian and hold him up in the normal way. If the target tries to fight back he might get shot or he might not.

But just blazing away at the first woman that drives down the street?

I don’t think so.

And then after doing this stupid thing of blazing away at some woman in a car, he brags that he is going to get $10,000?

From whom? The dead woman?

Who is the lead detective? Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau?
