On Sean Hannitys radio show this afternoon, Sen. Jim DeMint (R., S.C.) and Rep. Mike Pence (R., Indiana) said they hoped that the Pence-DeMint bill, which would extend all the Bush tax cuts permanently, would receive an up or down vote in both the House and Senate.
On the Obama-GOP tax compromise, DeMint said, I know our leadership probably did make the best deal they could, but added that we cannot continue to pass bills that add to the deficit, and that because of that, he would not support the current bill.
Pence also expressed dismay over the compromise, saying that businesses needed long-term security and said the legislation was massive spending, temporary tax relief. Asked whether he would vote for the compromise, Pence said, I havent made a final decision, but Im not impressed.
Discussing the White Houses recent comments about how tax cuts promoted economic growth, Pence dryly noted that it sounds like the administration is [full of] born-again supply siders.
Let them also push for a permanent death to the unconscionable “death tax.”
These were “Bush tax cuts” ten years ago.
Now they are the current tax rates, and we’re arguing about the “Obama tax increases”.
Good job by Pence and DeMint, two of the more solid people we have in government right now.
DeMint/Pence 2012!
No Washington GOP leader is arguing for a real tax cut from current levels.
Sickening and true.
The damn thing is loaded with crap.
Why don’t they make a voluntary tax payment program for the “Rich”? Once a year they could give a dinner and thank those rich people that gave at least 10% more than required. You could turn them into heros instead of treating them as villians.
There should also be a division between Non-W2 tax payers
That make over 250,000 and those taxpayers that passively received their income. (Didn’t own a business and didn’t receive a w-2.
What people don’t realize is that most S corps are mom and pop businesses, even though they have to distribute profits at the end of each year and have a zero balance in the business they must leave those profits in the business to pay payroll and buy equipment, although they have paid tax on the profits personally.
Every library, museum, university are recipients of “rich” people’s donations. What will happen besides those on the cusp actually paying more in taxes than those just under 250,000 but also the non profits that they used to donate to will have to find new sources of revenue.
What do Pence-DeMint taste like anyway?
Is it used in toothpaste or gum, in a new extra long lasting flavor?
Etc, etc, etc....
What tax cuts? I want to see someone lead on massive new tax cuts. This vote solves nothing, it just keeps a bad situation from going worse.
Why is that? Are they that damned stupid? This economy cries out for drastic tax cuts.
Two of the most conservative guys we’ve got.
Yep.
Nonsense.
