Those are well cultivated fields in those pics. Also in those pics the girl doesn’t look all that starved, maybe malnutritioned but not starved to death.I’m just sayin, it takes alot for someone to actualy starve to death.

The field you see is probably family plots on a hill. Everybody in N. Korea tries to secure a small plot of land outside government farm, and grow their own food there. These plots are not government sanctioned. Gov. reluctantly leave them alone, but crack down on them from time to time. The plot makes many N. Koreans survive, but barely.

As for technical assessment of her health, I don't know whether her condition falls into malnutrition or starvation. Seems she is awfully emaciated even compared with other ordinary N. Koreans.

The woman in the photo is basically homeless. She(or her family) does not own the plot. She is relegated to picking grass outside the field. I doubt that she is allowed to pick crops in the field, since there are many such wandering N. Koreans, and most are barely getting by.

That’s true but when people become scavengers they end up with worms and viruses that attack their organs and immune system. When the end comes, it’s like running out toilet paper, happens too fast.

Probably. A little starvation plus a lot of exposure to the elements would easily kill a person in Korea.
