Possibly Russian and Israeli mobsters. The Rothstein $1.2 billion ponzi scheme in Fort Lauderdale FL had Italian and Israeli mobsters. I have no idea how mobsters get involved. Do they figure it out and blackmail the ponzi schemer? Do they find the scammer more targets. Do they hide the money?
Weird how the son, Picower and the French guy all killed themselves. The French guy killed himself right away. Picower is found at the bottom of his pool. Madoff’s son hangs himself with a dog leash. Something is fishy.
NYC is a dangerous place when you have Russian Jewish and Russian non-Jewish gangsters in Brighton Beach plus other people in NYC that might want Madoff’s to be silent.

It’s Shakespearean. The fact that he (Mark Madoff) didn’t communicate with either parent for the past two years, and then offs himself. I really wonder what Ruth Madoff is doing tonight. She is the new Lady MacBeth. I’ll pray for her.

One does wonder. NofB makes a good point that a wealthy man has means for an easy exit. This is the very opposite.
I would note that in mafia murders they sometimes leave symbols at a crime scene indicating that the person was a "bird" (a talker) or a "dog" (a police agent.) The Madoff family operated among criminals, and they are risky people.

Madoff robbed billions from some very powerful people.
Hearing about people taking their lives fills me with so much sorrow. I just don’t know what to say.
sure, we can pray....but this kind of criminality leads to no good...and now its taken a very personal consequence....how must big Madoff feel, sitting in jail, knowing his actions destroyed his own flesh and blood?.....
The whole point is that sin always leads to disaster. Bernie Madoff is such a complete sociopath that the death of his son probably didn’t bother him at all. Sociopaths/psychopaths have no conscience.
There was a good article in today’s WSJ that everyone ought to read before reaching a conclusion. Here’s mine: Mark Madoff was very likely innocent, and Capt. Picard contributed to his death.
