His child was in bed, and just before he offed himself he sent a text to his wife telling her to check on the boy, she was in Florida I believe. She immediately called her father who went over and found him dead, the little boy was sleeping in his bedroom and didn’t know what happened.
Or, more accurately, a text from his phone to his wife's phone said to check on the boy.

That might mean only that the hit man doesn’t do two for the price of one...and the client didn’t want a 2-yr-old done.
As for the email, “write it or I’ll have to wake the baby.”
