Franklin Graham Returns to Haiti (with Sarah Palin--Pics!)
Samaritan's Purse Today ^ | December 11, 2010 | Samaritan's Purse

Posted on 12/11/2010 12:10:27 PM PST by Virginia Ridgerunner

Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham returned to Haiti today to survey our work with cholera patients, hand deliver Operation Christmas Child shoe box gifts to hurting children, visit shelter communities we built in the aftermath of the January earthquake, tour our rubble removal activities, and debrief with staff on water, sanitation, shelter, targeted feeding, training programs, and 2011 needs.

Samaritan’s Purse teams have been working in Haiti since the country was devastated by a deadly earthquake in January. Still struggling to recover from the quake, the Haitian people have more recently suffered from the growing cholera epidemic that has already claimed more than 2,000 lives and from the hurricane that pummeled the island nation in November.

“I don't know of any people in recent years who have suffered more, and in such a short period of time than the people of this small country—with an earthquake, a hurricane, and now a cholera epidemic,” Graham said.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is accompanying Graham on the trip.

"I am pleased that Gov. Palin will accompany us on a brief trip to Haiti this weekend, and I appreciate her willingness to visit Haiti during such troubled times,” Graham said. “I believe Gov. Palin will be a great encouragement to the people of Haiti and to the organizations, both government and private, working so hard to provide desperately needed relief."

With my family & Church, Samaritan’s Purse & Operation Christmas Child is a cause that we have been involved in for years and will continue to do so.

So, I suppose that there will be no inflow of donations from American Christians as a result of Sarah and Franklin renewing the attention on Haiti? Want to bet???

How much did you give yesterday? My bet is zero.

Palin could have raised millions just by asking her FB groupies to give. But of course there would have been no cool pictures of Bristol with impoverished, homeless kids.

This was a publicity stunt, plain and simple.

Good for you. My bet is that your participation did not take the space of needed medicines. Now if you had gone to Haiti to get your picture taken delivering the supplies then we'd be having a different conversation.

I've made the Haiti trip a bunch of times but only when there was no other way that would guarantee that the supplies we bought would get to the clinics. Once we set up a working secure pipeline there was no reason for me to go. The delivery of life-saving goods is the mission, not the bragging rights. I am sure that in any other circumstance you would understand that.

Didn’t think I needed a sarc tag and Penn had nothing to do with my post. If you want to compare him to the Palin’s that’s your right but Franklin Graham’s and the Palin’s heart was in it and I believe you know it in yours.

Matthew 6 1-4

1 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

I am not comparing Penn to Palin. I am absolutely comparing his photo-op visit to Haiti to her photo-op visit to Haiti. And, neither you nor I know what is in their hearts.

My biblical reference was not directed to you personally although I see how it could have been seen that way.

I meant to reference all those (celebrities or not) who make sure the cameras are rolling whenever they show up.

You are so filled with hate you cannot see. I bet that a lot more aid will go to Haiti because Sarah and Franklin were there than you and your navel gazing trolls will raise.

Take a hike.

You have no idea what I do with my time or money. You have absolutely no idea who I am.

Now, back to the issue. Will Haiti get more money from Sarah’s visit, yes or no?

You trolls are incapable of rational discussion.

I feel for ya....you apparently know nothing about Graham's charity that Sarah is helping to support. Not everyone is jaded. Bet there aren't any worthy causes Sarah could attend that would lift your heart. Hope it's ok with you if she goes ahead and attempts to make the world a better place in spite of cynics.

She scoffs at um and I love her for it!

Nonsense. Palin could have supported Graham's charity simply by talking about it on twitter or facebook or on van Sustrin’s show. This trip was nothing more than a photo op. If anyone else had done it, especially anybody from the left, you and all the other palinites would be all over it. There is one standard for everybody...anything else is hypocrisy.

Oh, I see, so her traveling there and talking about it with Greta, means Fox News, in covering this journey, will show ONLY photos of Sarah [geeeez}

There will be absolutely NO TALK or VIDEO of the 'Samaritan's Purse' charity that has constructed over 10,000 temporary canvas buildings to house the sick and needy.

Nor will Greta mention or show the eight million, yep, MILLION gift boxes ..... nope ....it is all about Sarah's political ambitions and hunger for the spotlight, even tho we KNOW she is a deeply Christian woman and Christmas is just around the corner.

You do realize I am sure, in your world, that no picture is really, really worth a thousand words, am I right?

Yep--that is the ticket...she has chosen to USE a great CHARITY to further her ambitions....yep...that surely must be her REAL MO. After all....we KNOW how the Graham's like to be used by really devious people.

Oh...and OF COURSE facebook and twitter, as you say, would have allowed a more, ahem, genuine or credible slant to Sarah's determination to help this charity. {Oh sure!} More, than say, traveling to Haiti and giving press access via national video via Greta of Franklin Graham and Sarah walking the walk.

Give me a break, wtc, your heart is WAY overloaded with cynicism. Give it a rest.

Enjoy entertaining the thought, however grim it seems to you, that maybe, just MAYBE, Sarah is a truly good woman, motivated by love of others and her nation. There really are good people all around you-but you have to judge them on their words and more importantly, their actions.

/lecture :^)

You presume to know what's in my heart?

Palin may well be a good person. I never said she isn't. But this stunt is just that...a stunt.

That's not cynicism. That's reality.
