RNC Chairman Steele to Announce He Won't Run for Second Term as Chairman

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is expected to announce he will drop out of the highly contested race to keep his post, sources told FoxNews.com on Sunday.

Fox News has confirmed Steele sent an e-mail to committee members Saturday night with the subject line, “conference call.”

In the note, he asked members to join him "for a private conference call" Monday evening.

Republicans picked up 63 seats in the House, narrowed the gap in the Senate and picked up 19 state legislative bodies in the November midterm election, but pressure has been mounting all year for Steele to step down from the position.

Critics have described the chairman as gaffe-prone and said he hasn't raised enough money. The criticism has resulted in an array of challenges for Steele's job from Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus, former RNC Co-Chairwoman Ann Wagner, longtime Republican official Maria Cino, former Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis and former RNC Political Director Gentry Collins.

The fierce competition will end next month with the selection of a chairman for the 2012 election cycle.

Good.

Clear out your desk and go quietly, Michael.

Disappear.

And for God’s sake do not let the leftists cajole you into seeking profit by “exposing” GOP “racism”.

Except we succeeded. Failure in victory is kind of a wash.

Hope Palin runs for it. She can save the party since the overall party seems to love. I like her a lot, but I do not think she can get elected President. Reason why is because people either love her or hate her. Thus, she is polarizing. Candidates that tend to be polarizing do not get elected unless they are against another polarizing candidate. Which is Obama, but I believe the Republican party could easily win with Senator Jim DeMint from South Carolina. He is a solid conservative and seems to have it together. Just my two cents.

There were a lot of people here on FR who supported Steele because they thought he would be our "magic negro" to counter B. Hussein. I argued against this racialist thinking at the time and was accused of being behind the times. I hope that there are a few more conservatives that realize that colorblindness is our only path going forward after seeing the debacle that was and is Michael Steele.
