BALTIMORE — Antonio Martinez and his mother clashed over his increasingly radical views. He began calling himself Muhammad Hussain but never got around to legally changing his name. Fed by Internet sermons and videos, the 21-year-old became obsessed with jihad, according to court documents and postings on his Facebook page.

His quick radicalization culminated in his arrest Wednesday on charges he tried to blow up a military recruitment center... Martinez was born outside the United States to a Nicaraguan father and an African-American mother...The married, part-time construction worker had become a Muslim within the past two years...

His mother...told The Associated Press...that she tried to persuade her son not to convert. She said she was angered by his alleged actions...

Martinez describes himself as "just a yung brotha from the wrong side of the tracks who embraced Islam." Several of his posts criticize people who oppose the religion, and they are what led the informant to contact the FBI about him, documents show...

Martinez...had several scrapes with the law in his teenage years, and according to court documents, he believed he could not buy a gun because of his criminal record. In 2006, when he was 16, he was arrested in the armed robbery of a Subway restaurant, according to a report from Montgomery County police..He was charged in 2007 with stealing a car — those charges were dropped — and in 2008, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft and was given a suspended jail sentence, probation and a $500 fine. In that case, Martinez...conspired to steal $160 from a grocery store cash register....

He referred to American-born radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki..as his "beloved sheikh," documents show. He also praised Omar Bakri Muhammad, the former leader of a radical group whose videos are widely available online....

So he isn't even an anchor baby. He was born elsewhere and we allowed him to become a citizen. And we get to pay for his defense. Yeah, wouldn't want to rush to judgment after he posted all over Facebook about his blood-thirsty Muzlim beliefs. Armed robbery, car theft. We need a law like the French have that let's them remove the citizenship of and deport naturalized citizens who behave like this. More proof we need to hunt down and eliminate Anwar al-Awlaki.

So the strongest influence on him is radical Islam. Hmmm...............

Well, we don’t want to jump to conclusions. Initial reports didn’t indicate who or what motive the guy had for the plot to blow up the recruiting station.

And NY Mayor Bloomberg always says that people plotting bombings could be upset by Obamacare, so let’s not jump to conclusions.

But what are we to think when we do learn the facts, and learn who the perpetrator is, and it turns out that yet another is deeply motivated by radical Islam?????

No, those of us who “jump to conclusions” about Muzlims who want to blow up things and kill us are intolerant “racists” who don’t appreciate our diverse, multicultural society.

Wonderful. Now the Hispanics are converting to Islam. That should turn out OK.

This needs to be nipped in the bud. “Nuestra herencia perdida” means “our lost heritage.” So they are basically rejecting the re-conquest of Spain and claiming to be moors. Sick, and inaccurate.

Any misfit who is looking to find a way to somehow justify and intensify their violent tendencies, could be potential recruits to Islam. They just need the guidance to steer them in the direction.

In that case, Martinez...conspired to steal $160 from a grocery store cash register..How many other people have you ever seen receive special treatment, suspended jail sentence, probation and a $500 fine, ( which I would say he did not pay the $ 500 fine ) seeing as how he likes to steal, how he did manage to walk after stealing a car ?

He was brought up here and self-identified as black (his mother is African American).

So, he never “got around” to legally changing his name. This reminds me of a now dated joke. Q; Why were there no (insert ethnic persuasion here) in the original Star Trek series? A; Because they don’t work in the future, either.
