Ja Rule agreed Monday to go to prison for two years in a gun case, becoming the second platinum-selling rapper set to do time after arrests in the aftermath of a star-studded hip-hop concert in July 2007.

Rule received a two year sentence for this. The pistol in qustion was found "in a rear door of his $250,000-plus Maybach after it was stopped for speeding."

Sleaz that Rule no doubt is, this is still a rape of his constitutional rights. There's no indication that he used the pistol recklessly or had it for any reason other than self defense, a matter with which rappers need to be very conderned. Surprise, surprise, the Revs. Jackson and Sharpton had no comments.

I agree. So, if I understand this, he's going to do prison time just for possessing the weapon? Scottie Pippen pleaded no contest for the same charge in Chicago back in the '90s and got away with a fine.

As long as he is a CITIZEN and NOT a felon, LET HIM HAVE A GUN!

“Because of your guilty plea here today, you’ll have a record of having committed a violent felony. This is a very serious matter,” Manhattan state Supreme Court Justice Richard Carruthers told him Monday.”

This judge and every other politician in any way involved with making the mere possession of a self defense handgun a crime should be doing serious time in super-max prisons.

Doesn’t this guy have money to take this to the supreme court? Does he want to go to jail instead, thinking it’ll add to his street-cred?

If he wins in supreme court, which he should, he can also file to have the gov’t pay for his legal expenses as it’s a civil liberty violation.

And, no, I’m not a lawyer. I just think if I got hit up w/this kind of b.s., I’d want to go as far as I could through the courts.

“Free Plaxico!”

Agreed. He did a super stupid carrying a fully loaded Glock that accidentally discharged when he dropped it. Getting shot with his own .40 caliber round was a pretty good lesson. A conviction for reckless endangerment and disturbing the peace would have been entirely reasonable, but not the horrific constitutional rape he received.

Well in NY State, especially NYC you have no Constitutional Rights and this case proves it. However if you are gay and or enjoy killing unborn children, that is celebrated with parades and big fund raisers. FUNY

I can’t stand NY State I avoid it like the plague. In fact, I hate it. S squared, Sodomites and Socailists.

New Yorkers will continue to have their constitutional rights abused until they decide to reclaim them. If it still means anything at all, living in a federal republic means that state or local law cannot trump rights specifically enumerated and guaranteed by national law. New York continues to treat as presumptively criminal an act (bearing arms) specifically recognized as a citizen's right in our Constitution, and one which the Supreme Court has recognized as incorporated into state laws.

There are other states with bad firearms laws as well (see: New Jersey, Massachusetts, California, Wisconsin, Illinois). Someone with legal standing needs to challenge them all.

I lived in New York for four years. I found it so weighed down with laws, work rules, taxes and regulations that I fled back to the relative sanity of Massachusetts. Let that sink in for a minute. And don’t get me started on the NY highway patrol...

NY is the opitomy and full enbodiment of government gone wrong on every level. The surfs of NY deserve every misery they earn by not killing off excess government.

My older brother lives in Red Hook, NY and it is just insane what cr*p he puts up with and pays for taxes. Beeyond insane. It does make As*achuesetts look normal. I have dis-dain for Mass but hatred for NY.

Looked it up and the worst trouble I saw him getting into was a DUI several years ago.

So two years with not serious priors, damn.
