A little girl who has been blind since birth has seen her mother and father for the first time - at the age of four.
Izabelle Evans can now see up to three feet in front of her after groundbreaking stem cell treatment in China costing £50,000.
Parents James Evans and Hollie McHugh said nothing could beat the feeling of the first time their daughter looked into their eyes and said: 'mummy' and 'daddy'.

I knew that Cletus.D.Yokel wasn't fearing a cure — I assumed that he feared that embryonic stem cells were used. I further assumed that the fear concerned the ethics of embryonic stem cells. Those were my assumptions — so, perhaps they were wrong.
My point was simply that, if embryonic stem cells were used, we wouldn't be left to wonder about it. That point would be front and centre, in every MSM story about the event.
I emphasized “successful” cure; because embryonic stem cell researchers have not been able to overcome the problem of rejection, by the recipient’s body. And (IMHO) they are unlikely to do so, without the same regime of anti-rejection drugs that transplant patients have to endure. I don't know much about the rate of cancer from embryonic stem cells.
The hospital where our daughter was born offers cord blood collection to put in some bank somewhere. Probably to be used by the Chinese!
I hear you. You are right, if it was embryonic, everybody would have known it, because it would be the first time they would have been successful at curing anything.
I knew right off the bat from the headline it wasn’t embryonic because it wasn’t noted in the headline. Libs would be crapping their pants out of joy if it was.

The Chinese are the ones interested in science and medicine and I don’t see the US changing that as long as we keep catering to the ‘culture’ of a spoiled 13% minority.
Anyone having a child would be well advised to have the umbilical cord harvested and then stored away.
I watched a beautiful little girl slowly die from cancer. For a period of time the only thing that kept her alive was that her parents had her cord blood harvested and frozen.
That is one of our leading areas in successful treatments and promising research. It is also where most of the private funding is being invested.

Yes, I recognize that. I typically distinguis umbilical cord from other "adult" stem cell variations though because umbilical cord stem cells in particular are showing such significant successes.
Our daughter is majoring in biomedical science. She is fluent in ASL and is studying Japanese on her own (she’s an Anime enthusiast). Maybe she should be studying Mandarin.

Thank you. I now see he’s eminently suitable hubby material. He has a wife, but he divorced one to marry his current wife, which shows he’s open to getting a divorce. If things don’t work out, at least I’m sure the Chinese police will end up hopefully being gentle as they arrest and drag me away.
The actual point and agenda behind pushing for embryonic stem cells is the abortion issue.
The had-aborts need for the embryo to be dehumanized so that their consciences don’t bother them as badly.
the key is going to be when a significant politician or doctor have only adult stem cells to cure the own child and there is none available. (ie polio vaccine)
