WASHINGTON — Texas clergy from San Antonio, Houston and Dallas joined a Tuesday march on Capitol Hill to press senators to approve an immigration bill that would provide citizenship for foreign-born children.
More than 100 leaders from 10 states took part in a march around U.S. Senate office buildings as lawmakers scrambled to finish their legislative work in a lame-duck session and adjourn for the holidays.
"We are hoping for a Christmas miracle," said the Rev. Harry Knox with Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church in Houston.
The Rev. Lorenza Andrade Smith, a San Antonio Methodist minister, and Maria Antonietta Berriozabal, a former San Antonio councilwoman, took part in the Washington activities just days after their Nov. 29 arrest for protesting at the San Antonio office of Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.Measure 'too expansive' Knox, Berriozabal and Smith were among the activists who called on Hutchison to drop her opposition to the DREAM Act. Its full name is the Development, Relief and Education of Alien Minors Act.
Hutchison and Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, say the bill would result in chain migration of relatives by granting citizenship to illegal immigrant students and those who served in the military.
"The senator has been consistent and clear that she cannot support the DREAM Act legislation before the Senate because it is too expansive," said Courtney Sanders, a spokeswoman.
The House passed its version of the DREAM Act last week, but opposition by Senate Republicans and some Democrats make passage more unlikely there.

I dont mind People being Skeptical ,But Pictures Of Dog Crap and Being called a Liar when I know what I heard,That goes beyond. I dont spend twenty four hours on the Web,when I went on and saw the responses I answered them.
I went on the Lou Dobbs web site to get the Transcript for the Show they had Demints Picture with a Link for the 14th Of Dec. and the Clip was for an Interview in the 18th of November and not the Interview for the 14th of Dec. Why did they do that? I dont know but I dont have a Direct line to Dobbs Sorry.
Now today Steve Malzbergs show Interviewed Major Garrett formerly of Fox News about his article in National Journal and during the Interview he asked about all the Pending Issues and Guess what he said, pretty Much the Same damn thing. John Kyle from Arizona has been Negotiating with the White House about the Estate Tax,only raising it to 35 percent he has been,according to Garrett been doing that since Katrina and what was done was for extending the tax rates for 2 years the Republicans would Work with the President on the Other Issues. So whats the Difference?
Personally, I was skeptical, but I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I do think some went too far.

Well your probably right about Hanging around after you post something but I go online early in the Morning before I go to work and I did not see anyhting on line about what I had heard and it Bothered me so i Made My Post,you can check But I dont think in all the Years I have Been On Freerepublic i have Posted 8 or 9 times if that,I just wanted to get out there what I heard. I went to The Lou Dobbs Show Web site and they had a November 18th Interview Posted instead of the Dec.14th show.
Well I can tell you this I feel vindicated because on the Steve Malzberg Show in New York Yesterday in the 4oclock hour,Major Garrett formerly of Fox news and now Working for National Journal was Interviewed about the Coloumn he wrote for the Journal and he told Malzberg about John Kyle of Arizona who has been Negotiating with Obama since Katrina on only Raising the Estate tax to 35 percent and raising the Cutoff to 5 million dollars,he told Obama that the Number one issue for Republicans was the Extension of the Bush Tax rates and that if Obama signed off on that the Republicans would work with him On his issues.
Well that is what Demint said on the Dobbs Show.
Look I feel the same way a Lot of people do On Freerepublic about our Country,I was in Washington DC on 9-12 with My Family and 8-28 for Becks Rally ,Emotions are High for obvious reasonswe all need to active and Informed ,If I said something mean or offensive I apologize, I would not post anything that was not true,I was just trying to Inform.

I dont think Anyone In Republican Leadership Cares for the Tea Partiers,they Slam Sarah Palin every Chance they get. Does it seem strange to you that This Omnibus Bill comes out of Nowhere at this point in time? I know it fits the Democrat MO,but what a Graet Distraction,then they Kill this Monstrosity and the So Call “TAX CUT” That isnt sails through,it actually is a Trillion dollar stimulus. What has Changed? The Debt Problem Has Gotten Worse and taxes are Staying the Same,all you get is a 2percent reduction in Social Security deduction
from your Check for 1 Year to give the Illusion of a Tax cut and I still want the Question Answered if this is not a Back door reduction for seniors who will be Retiring in the Next 5 years because of a Reduction in their Contribution to their Social Security accounts. I say this 2% deduction is an Illusion because Imagine, after all this talk about The TAX CUT BILL in January you look at your pay check and say this is the same as it was last year where is the Cut? Its Phony,now you see a Little reduction and dont even think about the fact that next year it goes away and your Social security could be affected to Boot.
