A quick read through this thread shows that others have already informed you that this story is over a year old. I think it qualifies for the “Unintended Irony Post of the Day” award for the fact that it came from a website which calls itself “Before It’s News”... /g

In the future I’d be leery of citing them as any sort of authoritative reference. The article was actually deceptive in two respects. First, as everyone has noted, it misrepresents the date and time line of the incident.

Secondly, however, it makes the claim that R.C. (and yes, I’ve known him long enough to call him that whenever I’ve dealt with him through his decades as our district’s Senator) is some sort of rabid anti-gunner. Although I’ve strongly opposed him politically, I know of no evidence to support such a claim. Granted he’s a hard-core Democrat, but he knows this constituency well, and that he’d never have survived in office if he’d been anti-gun.

His main claim to unsavory controversy has been, as others here have alluded, his reputation of involvements with many young “friends” through the years... /g Because he has consistently “brought home the bacon”, however, and has been relatively discreet about his “adventures’, he’s been re-elected for decades.

Although being an extremely effective State Senator does not excuse his many deep flaws, it’s unfair to level the accusation of being strongly anti-gun against him. And, time has finally taken care of the problem. We’ve just elected a good, decent conservative to replace him.

Again? I seem to remember reading here that he shot someone a couple months ago.

I’ve seen this happen on more than one occasion. An anti-gun politician/activist shoots intruder in self defense.

Damn hypocrites!!!

Nah...I’ll ALWAYS have one. Which will always get me a BETTER one.

Does anyone remember that vehemently anti-gun NY Times(?) columnist, Carl Rowan who shot two kids for simply swimming in his pool?
IIRC, he lived in Chicago and I vaguely remember the gun was illegal (not registered to him?).

Something to think about. Your continued gun rights in America will depend upon a strand of thread, that will break the moment that either the liberal nor conservative elite are threatened (or say they are) by organized gun violence. If anything like that ever occurs, God forbid, the elite in government will claim it is terrorism and shortly thereafter the government will be knocking on your door demanding the return of your firearms.

Think again if you believe advocacy groups such as NRA, of which I am a member, or the state FOA groups will back you. They could be neutralized as an advocacy group in a day with payoffs and reorganization of leadership, just as was done with the AARP.

The AARP used to be a strong advocacy group for seniors and their needs and wants. They weren’t D or R or liberal or conservative. Politicians both D/R were afraid of the power of the organization. It was bought off in the late 90s, bylaws changed, CEO changed, and the individual state groups that used to control the DC headquarters agenda were bought off by insurance interests. Advocacy groups are advocates that will follow the money and that can change everything. Just sayin.

>Ooops. Gets it wrong in the first sentence. For example, deception.

And isn’t most deception inflicted on reason? {i.e. deception cannot work on the unreasoning, therefore it must be applied to the reasoning. Because it is applied to the reasoning then it is reason that accepts or rejects the deception and may act upon that acceptance or rejection.}

I would differ with that premise.

Why is that?
The way I see it a boulder cannot reason, and so it cannot be deceived.
A computer which can process information, but not reason, cannot be deceived (though the information it is given might indeed be false).
A dog, which does have some little reasoning capability (the towel over the dog-biscuit test, for example, involves reasoning) might be deceived (such as throwing the non-existent stick for him to fetch).
Humans, which are commonly recognized as being creatures-of-reason (though whether or not they commonly EMPLOY reasoning is a different subject), are commonly deceived.

We should compile a list of Liberals who are vehemently anti-gun but then found to be packing heat if not actually shooting someone.

Excellent idea. It would be one of the best threads on the site.

You have your start right in this thread.

Please PING me when you have posted your vanity.

In the vanity you should request that the thread is infirmational and not discussion and only new names or new data be added.

There is no NC state law that requires you to register your firearms, or notify any public official. One county in NC requires its residents to register handguns - Durham County. This power was granted to Durham County by the State Legislature. No other counties or localities are permitted to require registration.

They are not opposed to guns, just guns in the hands of the peons.
