I can ruin your privacy, if you let it. Like anything else, responsibility is in the hands of the person using it. I have really enjoyed FB for catching up w/ old friends, seeing photos of their kids, sharing mine, etc. It has been a kick to see old high school friends I haven’t seen in 25 years.
That said, it also gets really annoying to hear everyone’s obsession with sports teams. I swear, for some people, it’s all about sports and TV shows. Either that’s all they’ve got, or they’re trying to avoid saying anything controversial.
That’s why I post so much about sports. My two primary interests are sports and politics and I don’t want to piss people off with my political views, which upset virtually everyone eventually.
