The decision to release WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on bail has been upheld by London's High Court, pending moves to extradite him to Sweden.
A senior judge rejected an appeal against a lower court's decision earlier this week to release the 39-year-old on conditional bail.
The Australian is wanted for questioning over alleged sex offences committed in Stockholm while he was visiting the city in August.
He was granted bail on Tuesday by Westminster Magistrates Court, but an appeal was lodged against the decision.
But High Court judge Mr Justice Ouseley rejected prosecution arguments that he was a flight risk and renewed bail.
However, Assange may not walk free until Friday as the £240,000 surety must be delivered to the court.

I bet he has his plane ticket already.
Of course he wins.
Assange will have a circus trial and then get away with it.
He’s a big, rich, important liberal. They always walk.
I’m just tired of having to pretend to be shocked and outraged.
Bail of $315,000 was granted by the lower court on Tuesday after a friend of Mr. Assanges offered to allow him to stay at a mansion in Suffolk, in eastern England, an hour from London.
According to the bail conditions set by the lower court, Mr. Assange must spend every night at the mansion, Ellingham Hall, a 10-bedroom Georgian home on a 650-acre estate owned by Vaughan Smith, the wealthy founder of the Frontline journalists club in London."
Vaughan-Smith, huh? I knew Soros was in here somewhere.
Remember, this is about two women who voluntarily had sex with him and then had next-day regrets.
Indeed, I’m certainly no fan of the guy, but these charges sound like complete BS.
Allowing (or condoning) the justice system to be subverted just to get Assange behind bars could ultimately do more damage than Assange himself.
> Remember, this is about two women who voluntarily had sex with him and then had next-day regrets.
...and who said publicly, on record, that they didn't want him arrested or tried, they only wanted to warn other females (groupies) that he wasn't necessarily a nice guy about sex.
Well, d-uh. He's an arrogant prick. Smart as hell. But obviously not Mr. Wonderful in his personal relations.
This whole rape angle is an obvious stalking horse for the political angle.
yea yea yea and how about the queers who stole the info what here is he what is gong on with him ,
Nah the media will not talk about the real culprit as it hurts their pro homosexual agenda and don’t ask policy.
screw you media and you gutless cowards in the GOP who will talk about this or the queer agenda just because the biased media will call you a name
they are B/S but hey the media wants us all to look at him while the queers pass their agenda like don’t ask.
The reason the queer stole the info and hurt our country was because of a queer agenda but hey the media will not talk about the real culprit lets talk about a man running his site and releasing info like the NY Times does
screw you biased media and your homosexual agenda
I agree, but it's a traditional means of working around the safeguards and limitations of the legal system, so it's no surprise.
The Brits get to keep the $315,000 if he flees; maybe that’s why that lard-ass Michael Moore only chipped in $20,000.
Ecuador has offered him asylum.
He is going to mysteriously vanish and will turn up there
before the end of the year. Then the doomsday files will
be unleashed.
Assange walks free and Lt Col Lakin receives prison.....
Possibly because he is all talk on this issue ... as with so many others.
Lip service cause this isn’t the type of ‘crime’ this Administration and DOJ are worried about.
Just as they are not worried about voting irregularities and outright intimidation of voters ... they are not worried about ‘secrets’ being released.
The Clinton Administration HAD and the Obama Administration HAS poor national security track records. But no one will ever call them on it.
He should have realized he was safer in jail. Particularly if he releases any Putin/Russian information.
Of course..... America Haters get special “rights”....I’m sure that he will stay in London esp. with his multitude of Fake Passports and RICH Celeb friends like Mikey Moore!
Great point.
We should selectively leak some Putin dirt and get the ball rolling.
Amazing to me that the amateurs running this government haven’t already thought of it.
Then again, perhaps not.
